LAKE TRAVIS vs. JASON SMITH

Lake Travis vs. Jason Smith-------and the winner is-----
For the second year in a row Lake Travis has overcome Jason's desire to run fast(or run at all) and have a good time. Out of repect, I'll let Jason give the details--if not I'm sure Dock or David will be glad to give you the TRUE story:D:D:D

Here we go........
It was overall a rough start to the boating season. Ben had some troubles with the new ecm tunes Saturday morning. We got all that sorted out just in time for me to realize that the boat wansn't deep enough in the water to keep from burning up a water pump. I should have been paying attention to what Ben was dooing rather than playing grab a$$ with Dallas.
So, I changed the pump, got on the water, dorked around with the tunes some more, made it to the 3rd stop or started to the 3rd stop, raced the helicopter (which was having a hard time keeping the pace) only to blow apart a water hose.
Spent another 2 hours a$$ up in the boat fixin stuff. Got back on the water & had a good time.
Ate at C&C's with some old farts & a paint sniffer who think my bad luck is funny:angry-smiley-038:
They are right!

JasonSmith 04-13-2008 09:26 PM

I forgot to mention that I think I have finally made Lake Travis "My B!tch"

customtouch 04-13-2008 09:26 PM

I don't know about that, but at least the model boat made it to all the stops. Jason didn't make it across the lake to the registration.:evilb::evilb:

David,
Jason might be suprised at the size of Lake Travis, if he ever gets to drive around the whole lake.:(

I have to say Jason was a good sport about the whole thing.

Damn he can reach areas in that boat that mere mortals could never reach. Water hoses and such....

Anyone who can change a water pump fast in a 29 Outlaw has my respect. Last time mine went out I told my girlfriend to kick me in the balls if I ever tried to buy another boat with engine access that crappy.

Take out the back seat. About a 1/2 hour job per side. The hardest part of changing them is cramming the new impeller in the housing.

BrettM 04-14-2008 12:19 PM

JS, 35 OL, 700's NXT, soon to scare 100mph, "turn Key", leave the tools on the dock!

Cleavers are ordered:cool-smiley-011:

Yeah, I brought mine to a friends shop last time. He took one look at it and got on the phone to Baja asking how to pull the seat back out. Now that I know how to do that it won't be as bad.

danh63 04-14-2008 12:45 PM

Is that how some people get them done so quick in the 25's also?

Did you take out the seat base or just the seat back ?

With just the seat back out, it's still a MOFO.

When I had the engines out of my 97' 29, I had
the seat base out, and that made getting to them
easy, but it was a lot of work to get the seat base
out, as I recall.

It is all worth it when someone says they were "running hard or at least thought they were" when this 29 went by them like they were standing still.
Makes my day when I hear something like that. Not because it is an ego stroke, but because it lets me know my work goes noticed.
Hell, I guess my work goes noticed even when I don't run. EVERYONE knows when I'm broke down.

Gotta remember performance is a Work In Progress as long as the progression is forward and AHEAD, and from what I was it was was way AHEAD...... When I could see:cool-smiley-011:

OOOhhhh, you're taxing my memory...that was
about 10 years ago:D

As I recall, you take out the seat back, ( easy enough to do)
and then, you take out all the fasteners securing the base to
the floor, I believe there were even some screws on the
engine compartment side of the base.

Battery switches and battery boxes had to be dealt with.

We took out the bolsters.

We took out the interior side pieces that the back seat
cup holders are housed in out, then it would come out.

You then, can get right at everything.
