New press release from FOUNTAIN,
Washington, N.C. – June 3, 2008 – Fountain Powerboat Industries, Inc. (AMEX:FPB), a leading manufacturer of high performance sport boats, fish boats and express cruisers, today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Baja By Fountain, Inc., has acquired certain assets of Baja Marine Corporation, a subsidiary of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC). Baja produces high performance sport boats in lengths from 19 feet to 40 feet.
Fountain expects to begin manufacturing the Baja by Fountain boat product line for the 2009 model year, according to Fountain Powerboat founder and CEO Reggie M. Fountain, Jr. "We are pleased to complete this transaction, and are very happy with the progress being made in bringing Baja and its popular portfolio into the fold. This action unites two of the leading brands within the powerboat segment, adding several popular models to our product portfolio, including the Outlaw, Performance and Islander model line-ups. Likewise, we are excited to deepen our long-standing relationship with Mercury Marine, which will continue to provide marine engines and certain other power components for Baja boats manufactured by Fountain through a long-term agreement.” :D:D:D I cannot believe it I beat DOC to the news WILL |

WILL I'll let you slide this time just don't let it happen again! LOL Well I guess this finally makes it official. Does anyone know if molds are in North Carolina yet? I hear one of my buddys may be heading South for a job in North Carolina. I sure hope that works out. Thanks Dock |

Am I missing something? This has been in the news and the forums for a couple months.... I hear a lot of things and it's hard to know exactly what is fact but it sounds like Brunswick/Mercury still has a hand in things as regarding power for both brands at some inflated prices. I cannot see how that will help the Baja line if it is indeed true. |
It became official last week. Tooling starts leaving later this week to N.C.

They better get cracking if they are going to make the '09s. Don't the new model years start showing up around August?
Does anyone have confirmed what models they are continuing to manufacture, and what models they're dropping? |
35 Outlaw, 30 Outlaw, then the 278 and 26 Outlaw according to my local dealer.
|
I believe it will be the 35 OL, 26 OL, 278 Per, and then demand from dealers will dictate on down the line. I don't think their has been a decision not to make a certain boat, but lets just say their is demand for some models and no demand for a few others.
I guess the real question is who wants the first 35 OL 2009 model built by Fountain, its going to be BADAZZ!!!!!!! I promise lighter and faster.:evilb: WILL |
I talked with the Fountain camp Yesterday. The are waiting to hear back from the state of NC to determine for sure when they will start producing the Baja's by Fountain. I have heard the same model info as posted above with the addition to keep the 247 and the 277 Islanders.

I bet Reggie will find all the speed the hull has. |

Yes they will build them the same way they do the Fountain brand. They will no longer have the in gel graphics. I hear that Fountain and McLeod do not get along so you can probably expect to see an interior from in house that looks more like Fountain.

Nothing wrong with the seats in my boat!
Personally I like the McLeod but that is just what I am use to. I like the look and they fit me very well. |
Bring back the 442 (as a twin) or .38 :party-smiley-004:
|
I like my 442 with triples. If one breaks, I can still get on plane. You can definitely feel it straining compared to trips. Love mine and think they are great boats!
|
The only things I don't like about the McLeod's are how expensive replacement parts are and how the paint peels and metal frames corrode. Third boat with them and I think they are some of the most comfortable on the market. I am sure this won't help the prices of replacement parts in the future.

I don't think it will have a large effect on your trade, Your 35 is a awsome boat. Most who purchase a BAJA in the past did not do it for pure top end, if so they would have purchased another boat. I do think we will be able to pass on the knowledge gained through a more extensive dialing in, changing X-DIM possible diff gear ratios, that will squeeze every MPH out of any 35 out there. It is possible with BAJA becoming more exclusive, your 2006 will not depreciate as fast as it was originally???? Again why the current BAJA's out there are at the best deals we will see. WILL |
The molds are history for the 36 Outlaw and the 442 along with others.
I sure wish I could have bought a 36 OL mld ffrom them after they discontinued them. You will see the 35, the 30 and the 277 first but not expect any of the old discontinued models. |

Kr 1276 Your 442 is that the same as a 420. Thanks |
No.
They quit building the 420 in 97 and started building the 442 in the 98 model year. They only built 37 442's and quit building in 2004. Here is a link to a pic and spec sheet for 2001 www.bajamarine.com/archive/2001/Baja_442.pdf |

Well the picture I received today was from a camera phone so I don't know how to post it but bottom line is that several 18 wheelers are heading south today (6-17-2008) from Ohio to North Carolina with molds.
Funny but I was told that these molds have been sitting out in the weather for a couple of weeks and now they are covering them for the ride down. I guess it really does not matter. Maybe we will see some boats in the near future.:D |
I will be truely amazed if they can have one boat built for the Miami show. Is it true they hired some guys from Earl Scheib since no one would teach them in gel graphics?
|
Will they make it?
from a Fountain press release-
In a Report on Form 8-K filed today with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Fountain Powerboat Industries, Inc. (AMEX: FPB) (the "Company") reported that, on June 11, 2008, it received notice from the American Stock Exchange ("Amex") that, based on Amex's review of the Company's Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the period ended March 31, 2008, the Company is not in compliance with one of Amex's standards for the continued listing of the Company's common stock as set forth in Part 10 of the Amex Company Guide (the "Company Guide"). Specifically, the notice states that "...the Company is not in compliance with Section 1003(a)(iv) of the Company Guide in that it has sustained losses which are so substantial in relation to its overall operations or its existing financial resources, or its financial condition has become so impaired that it appears questionable, in the opinion of the Exchange, whether such company will be able to continue operations and/or meet its obligations as they mature. As a result of the circumstances described above, the notice states that the Company has become subject to Amex's suspension and delisting procedures set forth in Section 1009 of the Company Guide. The Company must submit a plan to Amex by July 11, 2008, addressing how it intends to regain compliance with Section 1003(a)(iv) of the Company Guide, including specific milestones, quarterly financial projections and details related to any strategic initiatives it plans to complete. Amex's Listings Qualifications Department will evaluate the Company's plan and make a determination as to whether the Company has made a reasonable demonstration of an ability to regain compliance within the specified timeframe. If the Company's plan is accepted, it may be able to continue its listing during the plan period, subject to periodic reviews to determine whether the Company is making progress consistent with the plan. If the Company does not submit a plan, or if any plan it submits is not accepted by Amex, the Company will be subject to delisting proceedings. Likewise, even if a plan the Company submits is accepted by Amex, but the Company is not in compliance with all continued listing standards of the Company Guide by December 11, 2008, or if the Company does not make progress consistent with the plan during the plan period, Amex may initiate delisting proceedings. The Company currently intends to carefully evaluate how it will respond to Amex's letter, including whether it will be able to submit a plan with a viable chance of success. This will require the Company to talk with its lenders and evaluate its expenses and sources of revenues. The Company previously reported in a Report on Form 8-K that it has acquired assets to build Baja boats. It will evaluate how that new line of boats and any new business resulting from it will fit in with any plan it may develop to respond to Amex's notice. Until the Company's Board of Directors evaluates the recommendations of the Company's officers with respect to a plan, the Company is unable to make any more definite statement about its intention to submit a plan or its prospects for submitting an acceptable plan. |
Jimmy, do you have a cousin Marty McFly?

I'd say about 90% of the companies that get de-listed and go into the pink sheets are in bankruptcy proceedings within 12-18 months. Greg, they did you a favor. I don't have good feelings about this one.
Perhaps the regulators didn't like the exhorbitant line item on the balance sheet for Grecian Formula... |

Ok.
Can you give me any info about the 420. Thanks. They are BIG, they ride very well and have a nice cuddy. They take a LOT of horsepower but the most famous one of all was the Baja official APBA Pace Boat and it was FAST! One thing I like is they put radar arch on many of them and I think that really sets them apart from other boats. You'll need a real truck to safely pull one. |

Fountain Powerboats adding 250 jobs in NC
Tuesday July 22, 10:43 am ET Fountain Powerboats will add 250 new jobs in North Carolina county to build new boat line RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- A North Carolina motorboat maker will add 250 jobs over the next five years at its company headquarters in Beaufort County as it builds a new boat line. Gov. Mike Easley announced Monday the $12 million expansion at Fountain Powerboats Inc., located along the Pamlico River. Fountain will expand to begin building the Baja boat line that it purchased earlier this year from Brunswick Corp. The overall average wage from the new jobs will be $35,800 plus benefits. That's more than the Beaufort County average of about $28,000 annually. Easley's office said the company could receive up to $2.5 million in incentive grants should it create enough jobs and sustain them for 11 years under an agreement with the state. |
