Last Boat Produced by the Orginal Baja Marine
3 Attachment(s)
Didn't know if you guys have seen these yet or not - but this is the last Baja that the orginal Baja Marine produced.
30 OL with 525's, raised X and Sportmaster lowers. Pretty sweet. Look at the f'n tail!! :cheer: Any guesses on speed here? |
I was on a 30OL last summer and really liked the layout.....but this one is UGLY!!! I do like that tail though!!!! :)
Bet that thing pushes 90....do we know for sure? |
Nice boat other than the colors. Reminds me of the 40' Outlaw that Luxman used to "burn up" the water at LOTO running 80 MPH with triple 500's. Always got a chuckle that he ran a Shootout Class Winner decal on the boat. Pretty easy to win your class when you are the only one in it!!
|
The yellow on the outside I am good with. However, went it wraps all the way around to the inside is when it gets too much.
|
I like it, Congrats to teh BAJA family, WOW 525efi in a 30 OL don't see that very often.
DO you know the dealer it went to??? |
The boat is with its new owner in Wisconsin. Not sure what dealer sold it.
The new owner is trying to get the boat dialed in. So far the best they have is 82-83 from what I hear. They are still trying props out on it. |
525's they need to start with Bravo 30 pitch and go from there, that should put them 88mph.
|
Speed = 93.8 MPH

how does this one push 93mph but the blue 30 OL thats a 2006 with the twin 600 SCI's for sale on here only goes 93 as well?
As for the boat with 600's all I can say is that the 30OL was not enough hull for those motors. The one they delivered in Tennessee was way over powered and really dangerous in the opinion of many that ran it. The boat should be a triple digit boat but it was impossible to drive over 95 MPH. They may have dropped the drive deeper or simply proped it at a safe speed. I do not know for sure, simply making a guess based on what some folks in the know told me at Baja. |

Let me clarify, 30 Bravo props at 88mph is what a good base line would be, yes this boat has more than 88 to give.

WILL:evilb: I was expecting a higher number and assumed the raised X and the big rooster tail was costing a few MPH. |
The large skegs of the sportmaster
lowers aren't helping matters either. Throw some regular XR lowers on it and speed will go up. Boat should run high 80's easy. |

Man I would be soooo pissed if that is all I could get. You see 30 OL with HO's run that all the time.
I have been involved with a bunch 30's with HO's, both with stock X and raised and 82-83 is tough to see. Not sure what you guys are doing to see that speed??? Care do share? Hawkeye sold a 525 30 and it ran 92-93. |

Hawkeye sold a 525 30 and it ran 92-93. Here are a few in the classified: http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o20308-en.html & http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o21996-en.html I don't have any GPS photos. I didn't realize that low 80's were hard to achieve. |

Well I cannot find my pictures of the GPS recall on the first 30 OL that was built with 525's. But they are on this site with an orange bezel and the boat ranover 90 MPH. I was emailed the picture of the speedo right after a friend of mine at Baja ran the boat and it was FAST.

Tell me more about the 415, please! This is one boat that I understand Reggie was very excited about and will probably be producing. |

Greg,
Tell me more about the 415, please! As of now, same deck and hull with stringers like Dock said. Cuddy and bilge had to be completely redone. First one will be powered with HO's and Bravo IIIs. I wanted Bravo IIIs on the first 405 in the worst way, but never got them. I sure you found out what a tank that boat is around the docks. |

Your asking the wrong guy. My concept of time went out the window as soon as we arrived Thurs. night. Friday alone shaved about 2-3 years off my life! I woke up Sunday morning on the front bed of the Cruiser Yacht curled up and shaking, possibly from being cold. Forgot I had payed for a perfectly good hotel room!:D
I remember our BS session downstairs in the cruiser....some other stuff happened ??? dancing...partial nudity... christmas in june....it got dark out......we idled back to the ramp:D Are those 4 young ladies posing on Split Descision the ones rumored to be seen nekked in the engine compartment ? |
A 30 with 525's should be doing better then that.
With a Raised X and some other things my 30 with H/O's will Run 81 to 83 GPS all Day That is buring Labbed 30's |

That is correct, the boat was custom ordered through shipyard marine in oshkosh, Wisconsin. I have seen this boat run, and it came from the factory with labbed 34 maximus props. It would only do 83 gps. The owner is going to try 30and 32s. I also think it was a mistake to get the sportmasters. He probably lost a few mph with that choice.
|
you guys are right on, i am the service writer for shipyard marine in Oshkosh WI, The boat was ordered with sportmasters because the owner thought they looked better...So far we have gone from 32's to 30's and will be trying some 28's. it is a hell of a boat to dial in but we feel when its all said and done the boat will run 86-88 all day...its kind of cool to say we sold the last real baja ever, and that it is staying local....new owners are awsome people and are enjoying the boat very much...

Way cool piece of history!
My favorite Baja. And that thing is flying! Im through Bucyrus all the time and always think of its history when Baja and Checkmate were at full chat! Both buildings are still there.

and still is a local boat... :) .... ended up with 28P 15 1/4 maximus props, went back in a couple times to get right to the limit....30P that were thinned out were faster but there was a noticeable hole shot and mid range loss.... and its's a pretty babied boat... currently only has 4 hours above 4500rpm.... she runs out 82-84 any and all day, light loads and perfect water conditions she will run out at 88...

A friend took pictures of the old Baja facility in Bucyrus...so sad. I think back to all the men and women who went to work there everyday...and now it's no more.
I used to do a lot of traveling through rural America for work and motorcycle riding. It is stunning when you see all the empty plants, and the people didn't go away so what do they do after the plant closes. |
