The boat will more then likely have to be wet sanded and buffed. Since I was there I did ask for a test drive , but they were sort of apprehensive about it and it did not happen. I don't know alot about the 500 merc's, but I was told around the 250 hour time frame the top valve train needed to be freshend. I'm sure there are plenty of people on this site could tell you if this is true or not. It boils down to who had it and how it was taken care of. My opinion is don't spend this kind of money for a problem child. On the other hand you could get a good deal. If you were to buy it I would take it to a factory Merc technician first and do all the neccasary tests, which they do not have, since they are onle a dealer. The trailer is nicer then the boat.

I have seen few others that are a great deal and newer, let me know if you want me to dig them up. Bajas are good boats but I sure would rather have a cigarette. IMO

I have to agree with Outlaw 25. The boat has sit outside for a long time and has not been taken care of Holzhauer's. I stopped by after dropping my Baja off at Yachts to Sea which is next door. I noticed the gel was faded, cover all ripped up, water was dripping out the drain, the drives looked rough, and the gel was rusted colored up the drain hole. I never did get in it. Also I looked at another boat holzhauers had and left with a bad impression of them.

I went next door to Yachts to sea and my bought my boat. They were nice to deal with. They have a slightly older 36 with carb 500s for 79K. www.yachtstosea.com.

If you come up here, stop by and check them out.

If I recall correctly, this boat was for sale long ago in St. Petersburg FL. Was owned by a professional baseball player, and of course had salt usage.
At that time it had all an all purple interior that was faded, and was trying to get like 90K out of it. He had it for sale for a long time.

I am not hearing to much good about this boat........ thanks to every body for the feed back. I am gonna see what the pictures look like tomorrrow. If all it needs is a paint job and some cleaning I am ok with that.

Does anyone know of a good marine surveyor in that area that I can send overthere?

call yachts to sea and ask them. They are next door. They are honest have no dog in the fight. They should be able to tell you about a suyveyor. Tell them Matt Courson sent ya. They always helped me with boat pricing when I was shopping for different boat even though the didn't have anything I wanted.

They just send me about 65 pictures of this boat that were taken today. Does not look like nothing a little TLC cant take care of. Now I will send a surveyor out and see how that goes.

Any update on this boat? Did anyone check it out.
Was curious if its worth the effort of looking into. Spoke with the dealer a while ago and they didn't seem all too interested in anything. Thought maybe it was a diamond in the rough but maybe just rough. Or maybe its someone's new toy by now. Just thought I'd ask.
Not wanting to step on anyone's toes either. If its already bought good luck. I've just been looking for a while to pick up something as more of a "project" boat that had good bones. This one seemed interesting being the poker run layup which I haven't seen too often in the 36. I know DH has been interested. Just figured if you lost interest I'd investigate a little.

I went ahead and bought the boat, bad news is I got slammed by hurricane Gustav and I am running on generator power right now, I have sent my down payment and purchase agreement for them to hold it till I can get there. I can’t get down my road as of now. My town is real bad.

Thanks for your help guys
