Whats the deal on this 36
Does anyone know anything about this boat? I called the number it does not work.
http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o16816-en.html |
After I posted this I read a few thing on another thread sounds like it’s in bad shape.
|
It is located near STL. It is PR layup so there is not much in the cuddy. I had a freind look at it and other than a good cleaning he said it was a nice boat. You would have to not need the seating and/or bed if you bought it. It has been on EBAY several times. I think they will take 64K for it!
|
If I remember correctly, a place called Holshauer had it for sale. They're a Sunsation dealer and also sell Honda and a few other brands of ATV's, street bikes, and dirt bikes..
Edit: This is what you're looking for http://www.boats.com/sites/holzhauers/preowned http://images.boats.com/photos/hashe...20071317_1.jpg |
Too much boat for you :grinser010: So I take it you're still shopping?

It's got some good things goin' for it like the Boss pkg and blue motors. It would be a steal at 65K if it had a trailer included. Probably run in the upper 70's with the lack of a cabin.

Be good to see you back in Baja. There are some good deals on 33s out there too.

If the red trailer it is sitting on in the pics comes with it, I would pass on that trailer. It is too short for a 36. Look at how much it over hangs in front .
|
Looks like it might be a trailer for a 33 or something, definitely not for a 36.

Nice thing about the 36 is a lot of them had blue motors plus they all had the McCloud bolsters. Lines are a little better than the 33 too imo. |

I'm 99% sure those drives are regular Bravo ones. Xr drives came out in 02 or 03 I think. If you buy it plan on keeping a spare drive on hand for non stop boating. Good thing is they can be had for low $$$$.
Still a great deal if you can get it done for mid 60's |
Make sure you make the check out too DEEZ NUTZ... lol...:D
|
One of my customers has a similar setup just a 1999
Stock Bravo 1's almost 400 hours, no drive peoblems |

I drove down there in early July of this year to look at this boat, and from what I seen it was not properly maintained. The interior was filthy, then when you rubbed your hand across the bow it was like rubbing your hand on a very dirty chalk board. The cable on the starboard K-plane for your indicators was broken. The oil filters read 04, stereo did not work, a bunch of loose dangling wires in the port storage area in the cabin. To me it looks like it has sat outside in the elements for a few years and nobody cared about it. The boat did have regular Bravo ones. This could have been a nice boat if it was properly cared for, but with the condition it is in, and the hours on this boat, it might bring $50,000 on a good day. I'm not trying to stir any trouble just giving the insight since I looked at it first hand. AND I WAS NOT HAPPY, BECAUSE I BURNED UP A WHOLE DAY TO GO LOOK AT A BOAT THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, THAT WAS NOT EVEN IN FAIR CONDITION.

Great info! I wondered why it has sat for sooooo long!

Yep, I heard it's still sitting outside, ripped cover, rusty water coming out of the bilge drain, etc. It sounds like it's in bad shape. I believe there was another thread regarding this boat on here and on TBM. |

Make them send you recent pictures, not the ones from when they first got the thing. I have found from previous experience of buying boats is to just show up, then you really see how they take care of it. But coming from that far away (Baton Rouge) is a long way to just show up. If you have a nice boat now you won't be happy with what your gonna see..

The boat will more then likely have to be wet sanded and buffed. Since I was there I did ask for a test drive , but they were sort of apprehensive about it and it did not happen. I don't know alot about the 500 merc's, but I was told around the 250 hour time frame the top valve train needed to be freshend. I'm sure there are plenty of people on this site could tell you if this is true or not. It boils down to who had it and how it was taken care of. My opinion is don't spend this kind of money for a problem child. On the other hand you could get a good deal. If you were to buy it I would take it to a factory Merc technician first and do all the neccasary tests, which they do not have, since they are onle a dealer. The trailer is nicer then the boat.

F this boat go get this one. yes its 10 yrs older but its 20K cheaper and its a cig!
http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o18923-en.html I have seen few others that are a great deal and newer, let me know if you want me to dig them up. Bajas are good boats but I sure would rather have a cigarette. IMO |
I have to agree with Outlaw 25. The boat has sit outside for a long time and has not been taken care of Holzhauer's. I stopped by after dropping my Baja off at Yachts to Sea which is next door. I noticed the gel was faded, cover all ripped up, water was dripping out the drain, the drives looked rough, and the gel was rusted colored up the drain hole. I never did get in it. Also I looked at another boat holzhauers had and left with a bad impression of them.
I went next door to Yachts to sea and my bought my boat. They were nice to deal with. They have a slightly older 36 with carb 500s for 79K. www.yachtstosea.com. If you come up here, stop by and check them out. |
If I recall correctly, this boat was for sale long ago in St. Petersburg FL. Was owned by a professional baseball player, and of course had salt usage.
At that time it had all an all purple interior that was faded, and was trying to get like 90K out of it. He had it for sale for a long time. |

call yachts to sea and ask them. They are next door. They are honest have no dog in the fight. They should be able to tell you about a suyveyor. Tell them Matt Courson sent ya. They always helped me with boat pricing when I was shopping for different boat even though the didn't have anything I wanted.
|
They just send me about 65 pictures of this boat that were taken today. Does not look like nothing a little TLC cant take care of. Now I will send a surveyor out and see how that goes.

Any update on this boat? Did anyone check it out.
Was curious if its worth the effort of looking into. Spoke with the dealer a while ago and they didn't seem all too interested in anything. Thought maybe it was a diamond in the rough but maybe just rough. Or maybe its someone's new toy by now. Just thought I'd ask. Not wanting to step on anyone's toes either. If its already bought good luck. I've just been looking for a while to pick up something as more of a "project" boat that had good bones. This one seemed interesting being the poker run layup which I haven't seen too often in the 36. I know DH has been interested. Just figured if you lost interest I'd investigate a little. |
