I hate to say it, but they are right. For you to sell that boat your going to have to get down into the 60's to move it. This market is dead and with the amount of repo's out there the prices are in the cellar. There's a couple 30's listed for in the 60's and aren't selling and a 03 38 Sonic with 500's for 65k listed...People are looking to steal boats right now if they are buying otherwise they'll buy new. They don't want to be in the same position your in or anyone else that is trying to sell. This market will take awhile to come back so your either stuck in a "firesale" scenerio or enjoying what you have and waiting.
If you're stuck with your boat I could think of a lot worse boats to be stuck with than a 30 Outlaw with 496's! Just keep it and enjoy what you've got. I'm taking Doc's example and just going to do upgrades every year. |
just an example i saw a like new demo 40 foot baja exp cruiser, 496ho 36 hrs, and gennie... loaded go for 75k... that was in the summer before the meltdown... list like 390k according to mags

Isn't it amazing that when you buy a boat the dealer(seller) thinks it's worth a mint but when you try to sell it people think it ain't worth ****????????
Jay HAHAHAHA, well in defense of some dealers our boats are usually New. However we feel the same way with many clients who come in the shop. I chit you not, guys come in with 1980's POS, and want retail plus 10K on trade, because the motor is new 7 years ago. I promise as many dealers who have given youa run around, I have had 100times more idiots come into the shop. The best I had this year was a guy who wanted to trade his 1987 22sport, (in bad condition) for a new 20 Outlaw, he started as an even trade, then said he would be willing to go 5K in on it, but anymore and I was an *******. When i refused, he seriously wanted to fight, I had to ask him to leave.:waffen093: Had another who had no money, couldn't get a loan to save his life, and threatened my life if I didn't get him approved. Anyway about your boat, seriously to get a real value for your boat, I bet you would be better off trading it, it is not your boat its the market. unreal:drink: |

Will,
I was not attacking you or dealers in general. My statement was meant to be a generalization and nothing more. All of us have been waltzed around the floor before, it's just personal preference how long you want to put up with it before you show people the door. Most boat owners are proud of their boats(POS or not) and think they are worth more than the current market, me included!!! Jay |
