Really should be using a 1 ton and have dual rear wheels to comfortably pull a 40 footer.

My guess on total weight is 16K on a steel trailer and obviously less on an aluminum trailer.

I've got a heavy 36 Outlaw on a heavy duty trailer with six wheel disc brakes and I am right around 15K. I tow with an F-350 SRW with airbags and one time I borrowed my friends dually-- man what a difference !!!

Oh yeah that 3rd motor adds another 1K to the weight.

Jason, here is my weight slip on the 38, 1/2 tank gas (120 gals) full of crown, tequila, aqua scooter, food, mixers, etc.

I would really think hard about pulling a 40 OL with tripps with anything less than a dually. If you are going down the street to the ramp sure, if you plan on going from Loto to Miami you nutz. Remember you need to calculate the weight of the trailer also. We tried to squeek by in NC this summer with a 38TE, cost us $1600 in fines and that was with a Dually 3500.

I don't want to get into the whole tow rating issue. I was just wondering how much a 40 with trips weighed & if my 250 would do the job based on the weight of the boat.
The f250 will tow 15k. The 40 is over 15k on the trailer. Enough said.

I pull a John Deere 332 trackloader that which weighs 14,500 with trailer and a couple of attachments with a 2500HD 3/4 ton with a duramax. It does just fine. I've pulled it 75-80 mph with no problems. Like someone else said, it just depends on how comfortable you want to be.

I've pulled stuff that would make The Bandit & Snowman piss themselves!!

I've probably backed more miles with overloaded stuff than most have driven forward with the right equipment.

All the TOW NAZI'S will be on your ass and tell you how you will kill someone and your insurance will not cover you.....

IMO pulling might not be as much of a problem as stopping.
