That's what we need. I don't know how much it takes to do a platform. It is for a late model 33, they were a little bigger than the old ones, right? Anyway do you want to PM me with some info?

pwam1 02-28-2009 08:54 PM

I hate that tape crap. Doesn't stay down no matter what kind of glue you use. Too expensive for what it is, too IMO.
I just had my platform re-powdercoated, and I am going to use some stuff that you can get in a spray can that is similar to the plastisol coating GM used to use on their rocker panels. I'm just going to do the tops of the tubes. This stuff costs around $20 for one spray can, but that should be enough.
I've seen other platforms with a rough surface of some sort. Don't know if this is the same stuff, but I am going to give it a try.

redbud35 03-01-2009 01:02 AM

Are you sure your not thinking of the rubber they used to use. I have never had a problem with the tape. It looks alot better than the rubber inserts they used to use.

brian41 03-01-2009 08:52 AM

I get $30.00 (for none TBM members if they admit to it its double) roll that is 60 ft long enough to do your platform almost twice..... How is that expensive ?

Redbud you can call me at 734-586-0448 Thanks Brian

Thanks Brian, I will be in touch.

Naw, I have 50" of that rubber insert stuff in white that I bought from Extreme Marine a long time ago. I'd damn near give it away just to get rid of it. Seems like I paid over $2 a ft. for it.
I've had the tape on several platforms. After it sits in the sum for a while, the edges will start to curl. I've tried everything to keep them down. Going to do the other spray texture stuff now.

redbud35 03-01-2009 06:51 PM

Are you going to put it only where the tape was? That sound like a good idea. Mine is curling up also. The tape from Brian is far a friend. Let us know how that works.

Who was the rub rail supplier for 1996 models?...Looked at Taco but they don't list Baja.

eddie 03-02-2009 07:36 AM

Switch cover?

XT I need an "engine hatch" swtich cover for 2001 33 Outlaw - by chance do you have one? I have replaced all the other, but can't find this one. Letters are wore off a bit. I'll take two if you have them, I have a buddy that needs one too.

Eddie,

Are they the square style in black, or white.....or maybe the engraved more rounded style? The best ones to have are the engraved style we started using until 2008. I will look to see what I have?

Try looking-up Barbor Plastics on the net. I will see if I still have any part numbers listed. Damm, I wished I still had the access to this information, thats in the SR database....

That is my plan. My platform will go to the powdercoater this week, and as soon as I get it back I will try this stuff. I'll report on it when I have something to report.

Did you ever find out if you have any of these?

XT-Innovator 03-03-2009 03:35 PM

I looked through everything that I have with no luck. I had the white cover, but that will do you no good.

This is another good example of the problems caused by dismantling Baja Marine. We used to stock these covers in the obsolete warehouse because of the ongoing warranty issues, and if we ran out of one style we ordered more of them. Great Lakes Skipper we only sell what they purchased for penny's on the dollar from the Baja inventory, with no plans to ever replenish the stock.

Anyone want to partner, and purchase Carling's minimum orders for all the versions of these switch covers and offer them for sale? Or we could just offer the laser engraved style that eliminates the problem of the screen printed text??

XT:rolleyes:

XT what about a full morning cover for a Boss Hammer in red?

XT-Innovator 03-19-2009 10:09 AM

Eddie,

We have the patterns for both your cockpit cover, and the mooring cover. I may have to order the correct sunbrella Red that you may want, but I usually can have that delivered the next day. Email me at [email protected] for a quote.

I've think 60'. I have a supplier here but I don't want to buy that much. How much do you need?

boatman22 04-18-2009 06:34 PM

Wow big rolls....I don't think I need that much, I just want to do the cabin floor. I'm gonna measure and then post. Any idea how wide the roll?

redbud35 04-18-2009 06:55 PM

I talked to my carpet supplier, that's were I got the info. Anyway the roll is 6' wide. I'm wanting to do my cabin as well.

boatman22 04-18-2009 07:10 PM

15' would work for me also. XT might have some in stock....I hope.

redbud35 04-19-2009 08:55 AM

Found some at Overton's, I think I'll go that route.

We don't have any of the 20oz cabin carpet in grey. I have some of the really thin 20 Outlaw hulliner carpet, but that is not what I would use in the cabin.

I contacted the original vendor on purchasing some of the Carbon Fiber grey carpet and my minimum purchase was a 12' wide by 72' long roll @ close to $10.00 a sq. yd. This would cost me 3k, but I am still thinking about it?

XT:eek:

boatman22 04-20-2009 09:44 AM

Don't tell them it is for a boat....it will be 75% less:eek:

XT-Innovator 04-20-2009 09:49 AM

They were giving me OEM pricing, I just don't need that much carpet to stock.
