92.4 mph.
Not all that happy with my performance at the LOTO Shootout this year, but 92 was good enough to win my class.
I had Bblades work the propellers no too long ago & was against the limiters at 3/4 track. |

JT ran several times in his 33 Outlaw & saw a best of 93 mph, I think before a drive let go.
|
I saw your run on tv. The guy did some good commentating. I remember him saying there were alot of clean boats at the shootout this year, and yours was no exception.
Nice meeting you for like 10 seconds! :drink: |
Both you guys looked good out there. I was thinking that was JTs 33.
Who and what was in the other 29? Didnt he run mid 80s or so? Great show guys. |
Congrats to all the baja folks.
Any you utube vids ?? |
Teambaja, ummm that must have been late Sunday.
|
Quinlan, the other 29 belongs to Mike Bandy out of Indy. He ran 87 I think.
|
Nice job Jason it looked good going down the track.
|
Good to hear the limiters were working. Otherwise you might have been fixing motors too.
But seriously--92.4 is fast !!! I'm sure the cooler , dryer air helped a little bit. JT's boat is really moving too. What does he have for motors now?? Great job guys !!!! Smitty |

Smitty I had a head gasket start to go bad last fall, the original intent was to just fix that, since they ran soo good before, but I had the heads crack checked, and they were, so plan b happened. Dean Gellner has built up a few 575's, so I got in contact with him. He did up a couple of sets of dart iron eagle heads, got a couple of his custom ground h/r cams he does for that recipe, morrel lifters, reflashed ecm's Decked the block, honed, ringed and bearing'd it, I threw them back together. It runs now what it would run on it's absolute best day ( ideal conditions) regularly. They had a new starting procedure which allowed us to roll past the start boat at 30 mph. The first run, I was screwing around trying to make it go 30, rolled past the start boat, set the trim and then hammered it:eek:..it ran 89 Went back up, when it was time to run, I got back a little further in the start box, got it going 30, partially set the drives, hammered it right at the start boat trimmed it.....ran 92 ( 92.5 on the hand held) I then installed the 90 MPH club sticker Jason gave me:drink: Sunday, conditions ( air temp, quality was better, had a nice breeze at the rear, tried the same start proceedure as I did on the second run, but added more trim to see if the would spool up quicker, hammered it at the start boat, it porposed a bit, then it started to lay down and go, then, at about 1/4 track, the right tach headed to the moon:eek: I pulled off the track, r/h drive wouldn't go forward or reverse, so I'm thinking a shaft broke.....I'll tear it apart tonight and see what the damages are. I took the boat back to the dock, jumped in thunderflash, headed back to the corse and started:drink:ing I'm thinking it could have hit 94 fairly easy, but the 3rd time of hammering at 30 mph took it's toll. So, for the most part, it was a pretty good weekend. |
Congrats to you also JT. AWESOME RUN
When that happens to me I find my upper gears have shed their teeth. Good luck P.S. What speeds did the Baja by Fountain run out there? |

P.S. What speeds did the Baja by Fountain run out there? As I recall, the Baja's that ran were a yellow 226, a 24 o/l, a 25o/l, Jason and the other 29, Roger ( 33 O/L w/Jasons colors and graphics) and myself. Fountain was probably the only other V hull that had a better presence there. |

Jason Congrats on your run!! Rumor has it you ended up trading your boat for a pontoon?? After seeing you pulling a pontoon trailer late Sunday, we figured it had to be true.
JT sorry to hear about your drive, that sucks!! Let us know what you fingure out. At least you hit your best "to date" run before blowing your drive. Are you running 4 or 5 blades now?? With out rubbing it in, let me tell you, our boat ran much faster on Sunday than it ever had before. If radar guns don't lie, then they must have given me bonus MPH's for looking so good. Greg how is it others can forget you so easiy, but I can't seem to get your actions out of my head. Why can't you just go out like normal people do, have a couple, and then home to bed early? When I say to bed, I don't mean that blanket in a closet, that you called bed. |

Any insurance issues entering an event like this?
What class would I be in if I ran the 36? |

What class would I be in if I ran the 36? You would be in the non-professional v bottom class 32' to ?? with power added features. That would put you in with all the Cigs & Fountains with 700's unless they change the rules for 2010. |
