Ink on vinyl...

Guys-Someone apparently marked my seat with a pen. Any reccomendaions to getting an ink mark off of vinyl?? I've tried all my boating vinyl cleaners, magic eraser, and a few other products. It also happens to be on a colored (yellow) portion so I didn't want to try bleach. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Ive taken pen out of a shirt with hair spray.... try both aerosol and spray type. try in a spot not in plain view in case it dis-colors. good luck !

I have had great success with this product...

A friend of mine used it once to get dried blood off a leather seat in his truck. Removed it with no problem. We carry the small spray bottle on our boat and use it all the time.

I would try the small bottle first to see if you like it... PM me and let me know if it helped.

Good luck and I hope it helps.

I would give the magic eraser a try, it has worked great for me, never on pen, but for $3 how can you not try it

Rubbing alcohol 99% is what we used at the plant.

That's acetone. Gotta be real careful using it on vinyl.

I've seen ink stains disappear over time just by being out in the sun. Might be better to use a cleaner lightly, then let the sun do it's job, vs scrubbing the chit out of your vinyl trying to get the stain out immediately.

Acetone will remove the stain guard coating, and melt the vinyl! I do agree that many stains will get bleached-out from the sun.

Clean it as good as you can with alcohol & (if still have light markings) then set in direct sunlight for a couple of days!!

XT....Is this ok to use on the colored vinyl? (yellow) Thanks for all the input!!

I would first try rubbing alcohol. If that doesn't work, use paint thinner. It works great on white but I would color test in an inconspicous area first. Be sure and rinse thoroughly and apply a protectant when finished.

Yes, it is fine to use on the yellow vinyl. Believe me I did more damage one time using acetone to remove some heel marks when wy wife had a little to many to drink. It removed the stain, but it also remove the stain gaurd and the spots I cleaned always held the dirt more, and was harder to clean. The Omnova vinyl that we switched to in 2008 had the best stain gaurd called "Prefixx" that we ever tested, but that was a short model year.
