Default Price on a new 25 Outlaw

I was up at the lake yesterday and saw a new 25 Outlaw SST with 496 HO motor. The dealer was asking 72K w/o a trailer. The list on the tag was $84K. Just curious if anyone has been shopping for a new 25 and what kind of pricing they are seeing. The $72K sounds high for a 25. The $84K sounds ridiculous but we all know MRSP is a useless number to begin with... I would say the boat with some dickering could be had for about $65K, at least now, not exactly prime time if you're looking for a new boat.
Makes the resale value on my 2000 look decent with these kind of prices!

My '99 25 Outlaw stickered at just over $100K. It was bought new for $88K.

I think resale is better on the lesser optioned boats.
-Maybe I should say a standard equipment model does not seem to depriciate as bad as a fully optioned model.

I also think you are correct about dickering him to $65K.

Flyin, I think you are right on about the 25 w/ a 500hp. They won't hold up resale wise compared to the standard engine boats. It's tough to justify that $30k added expense for a few MPH over a 502. Especially on a used boat. I think your boat sounds like a great deal for someone out there who's looking for a fast 25 that hasn't been messed with. Personally, I won't touch a blower boat (unless it was stock factory) with a 10 ft. pole. I was originally looking for a used 25 when I bought my boat but nothing was available at the time. The economy was good. Lots of people were buying boats and on the lake where I boat the 25 is a VERY popular model. The sales manager at the marina told me he sold over 20 25's that year and only 1 had a 500hp. The rest were 454mag's or 502's. The boat you have is a relatively rare 25, too bad you gotta sell. I'd love to have my boat do 72 - 73+ mph. That's about as fast as I'd want to go in a 25 but it would be great to be able to get there!! Right now 62 - 63 (GPS) is the best I can do.

Good luck --- Luxy

I am proud to say that I did not buy the boat new, I am the second owner. The first guy took the BIG bath on the boat.

I still have the 99 Powerboat Magazine that tested the 25 Outlaw with the 500 efi motor. They noted it's expense at nearly $4000 per foot.

Default Here is the note I mentioned earlier

I will have to dig up a later issue where I believe it was named powerboat of the year. I may be wrong on that one though.

I agree with you guys, I would have never paid 80k, let alone 100k for this boat. I really love this boat too, but like someone mentioned before, you can buy a 29 for that!

Default More data

They tested an SST with the 500 efi that stickered at $99455. My boat is not an SST, instead the guy that bought it chose to individually buy every option rather than getting it in a lower priced package! That is why it stickered for over $100k, not to mention the cost of the trailer.

OMG!!!! Those numbers are insane!
I can't believe what they want for a 496HO 25!
My 2001 stickered for 74 and I paid a little over 62 for ours!
I can understand the 500HP version but the 84 list on the one Luxy quoted is unbelievable!

Don't forget guys, magazine articles also quote MSRP so that's no exactly what you pay!

jb,
That sounds like a deal, $59K. Is that a 2002 with the HO engine? The 29 sounds even better. The dealer here on the lake has a 29 for $111K, SST w/ Mag engines NOT HO's.

Is the dealer you're talking about Congel??

Daze, the MSRP on boats is a joke. I think the dealers just make them up. When I originally started looking at Outlaw's I couldn't even find out what the MSRP was. Now I believe Baja will send you the MSRP on a model if you request it. Like I said I'd expect you could actually buy the 25 for mid 60's, close to what you paid for your 2001.
