I know we talked about Memorial day weekend but I'm open to ideas if that doesn't work.

tree 03-11-2010 05:59 AM

We usually make the trip in July. We did it last year the same weekend that the barge party was supposed to happen. The barge party is supposed to be a good time but was moved onshore last year due to weather I believe.

GettinKnotty 03-13-2010 03:32 PM

I know we can go memorial day weekend or july barge party but jobbie is a must for us also. We've never been on Lake Erie so we want to go with a group that knows the area.:ernaehrung004:

bajaboatnut 03-13-2010 05:19 PM

Pajama party is Mr. Ed's first bash of the year. Pretty much starts the bay up for the season. Have never attended but heard its a blast. I will def. be headed to the bay for sure for the memorial day weekend. lets get a time and place to put in as it gets closer

GettinKnotty 03-14-2010 09:19 AM

Ok Memorial day weekend is when we're heading up if someone could tell us the best place to meet and put the boat in, I think we'll bring the cruiser for this one. Lets start a list of those interested.

We use Catawba Island State Park to launch our 302. There is also Mazurik Public Access launch ramps as well. Those may work better for a cruiser. Either one is a short hop over to the islands. You can count me in for Memorial Day.

Ebay Ed 03-14-2010 10:34 AM

Mazurik you are on the lake in 2 minutes and is directly across from Kelly's. Catawba takes about 20 minutes or so to get out of the harbor and on to the lake also Dempsey's on the south side on the Sandusky Bay is another quick way to the water and is where the beaches are at Bay Point count me in ill be there Ed

Bruce this one is in my backyard, so I'll be there. I'll probably launch out of Sandusky. I'll most likely be coming with my Dad and family so I'll probably only be available to party one of the days I'm going to Cedar Point with them this weekend.

kick3pts 03-15-2010 03:28 PM

Irish, we stayed at the Cedar Point Marina one weekend last year and loved it. It was great being able to take our time and actually enjoy the park. Had breakfast and dinner at one of the hotels on the North end of the Point. I think they have a pool there as well, though it was too cold when we went.

We used to go every summer when I was a kid. My Dad wants to go back with sisters kids so they get the experience.

Are you sure you are thinking about Catawba? Its just around the corner from Sandusky directly on the lake (see map). Birdog used to launch his top gun there and we were up and goin within minutes.

Here is a link to the launch ramp in Sandusky. Its also a good spot. The parking lot is lit and patroled by the city police.

LOL - its ready :drink: I've help launch from the Sandusky launch ramp more than any other place. I like it. Its not real steep and there are plenty of docks for launching. We've never had to wait real long. I'm also comfortable leaving my car there and anybody who knows me will tell you, thats saying a lot :D

Ebay Ed 03-15-2010 07:31 PM

i was thinking about west harbor about how long it takes to get to the lake from the docks with all of the no wake zone i like Mazurik for kelly's and pib and Dempsey for the bay area / cedar point

Ed,

I dry racked my 29ol at Anchors Away on west harbor for eight years. The no wake is 10-15 min. but is great for warming the engine before blasting across the lake. It will also get you many thumbs-up, and time to finish that first drink...:drink:

Ebay Ed 03-15-2010 07:54 PM

and it will also get you a finger when you drag some guys fishing pole into the water when you catch it with your prop didnt do it on purpose but he couldnt move fast enough :party-smiley-004:

bajaboatnut 03-15-2010 08:33 PM

I like Catawba State Park, but it is extremely tight. Marblehead has a very nice launch as well, plus gives you a bit of a ride over. I can make it from Catawba to PIB in 10-15 min. Hopefully we all can all leave the same launch and ride over.
