Question 30 Outlaw Sea Strainer

Has anyone installed Sea Strainers in there 30? If so do you have any pics of how there mounted? I want to put a set in this year but just not sure how I would mount them with the liner.
Thanks

Rob

See if you can find engine room shots of the poker run boats. Yours could be set up the same way. I can help you with it if you want.

The 30s with 600s had sea strainer from the factory to help protect the intercooler. They mounted under the engines in the very front back to back on the center glass stringer. The hose entered at the top and exited at the bottom on the same side of the strainer. Very difficult to access but that is about the only spot. I would hate to install a pair without pulling the starboard engine.

I think I have a couple of shots. But both those boats were 35 outlaws. Not sure if they were mounted on the center stringer. When you tap on it feels a little hallow. Don't want to cause any issues. Also how much below the water line do they need to be?

we made a mounting bracket out of alumium block its about 5in by 7in with the center notched out to fit the center stringer,,,,the sea strainer are bolted to that block,,,we did drill thur the center stringer,,,plan to seal up all holes,,,,there was wood chips that came out of the center stringer,,,dont know if it was some kind of composite material or wood,,,i have a drawing from the machine shop that made the bracket,,i can fax it to you,or email it,,,your question about how low to mount the strainers is a good one,,,i think there are different reasons for where to mount them,,,i think all you have to do is get it lower than the water inlet at the transom, which is high up on the transom,,red hose,,also we plan to get the alumium andoized

Twin. Do you have any pics of the work that you did? Also would you be able to have another one made? Or would I have to find a place? Sounds like it is a good idea and would work well.
