Problem with Vinyl is you cant have it under the waterline
Plus to me
Painting is much easier (more work yes, but durability and not worrying about coming out and seeing your stripes ect hanging off the side NO)
Plus I dont plan on airbrushing anything, just big bold solid colors
and stripes and some fading which requires adjustments to the paint gun
Then again I can paint pretty well from other projects, and I have a awesome paint gun setup that im happy with.
I hear you on ease of vinyl and I plan on doing some vinyl work on mine as well but mostly going to be paint

Geographics Painted that Custom Baja just a couple of Months ago - I took those pictures PRE-CLEAR COAT. The paint masks were supplied by Baja which we modified and added more to, among other things - elaborated on the Transom as they don't put graphics on the transom. I have more pics of that boat if anyone's interested - We also painted the dash panels with some similar splash. As for how will it look in 10 Years? Just Fine.
It's BASF AUTOMOTIVE Base Coat / Clear Coat system - does not chalk or fade - as well the Clear doesn't become brittle - so it can be buffed back to a beautiful shine every other year or so "if needed"

Attached Picture shows boat with Yellow Fade - with Masks being applied and modified.

Also on another note - This was done on Behalf of Baja - We Are the Baja Custom shop as far as paint goes... They do all the custom rigging (Drives, Engines, Interiors, etc....) We paint the boats, Dashes, and some times Drives.

Clint,
Thanks for all the info. So, you guys are doing all the Baja custom stuff, huh?....That's great, I've seen some really awesome looking Baja's and to be responsible for that work, you guys should be proud. Excellent!
BTW, did you also do the "skittles" Baja pace boat?

We Bring the boats back to our shop. Most times because we've always got one here (We have the Factory 40 Poker Run Boat here Now) We drop one off and pick up another. We are VERY proud of the work we've done with Baja, it's a great relationship to have. If you go to our WEBSITE we've got more pictures of Baja's we've done - yes Including the "skittles" boat. I've actually just been sent some BEAUTIFUL pictures of that boat from the new owner who's put the name "Triple Suction" on it. I'll be posting them on our site asap. One of them is in the OSO custom graphics gallery, along with about 10 others. Have a look in the photo galleries here, and check out our WEBSITE as well.
Thanks for asking! Hope to hear from you all soon.

Clint- i dropped my heritage trailer off at the factory for a few repairs on tuesday. while i was there, i spoke with the owner. he said that his trailer was chosen to haul the 40' Poker Run Edition. i guess the trailer is on the way up to your shop for matching custom paint.
The "Triple Suction" boat is now a Lake of the Ozarks boat. since the boat is equipped w/ triple 500's and the owner is an Electrolux Vacuum dealer in MO, hence the name Triple Suction. i have raced him in my buddy's Top Gun T/S a few times. very, very strong running boat.

Hey Chad - Haven't heard anything myself on that score - but it's entirely possible. It's also possible that Baja may have someone local to them do that - They do have a shop near by that does small parts and cars etc. There is a Brand new custom Heritage Trailer under the 40 we have now - All Black with Brilliant Chrome Diamond Plate on the fenders and step areas - Beautiful trailer! We have a high tech look coming for the new 40 POKER RUN boat - I won't spoil Baja's Surprise, but the trailer as is, suits it well - and if this is 'the' trailer in question then it'll be staying the way it is. So that's how that name came about! - Very clever - we weren't quite sure - but it's a cool name just the same - Great guy - sent us a whole pile of beautiful pictures with his blessing to use them how ever we see fit! Can't ask for a nicer guy then that! Just one more reason Baja Owners are the best!

Clint- perhaps i misunderstood mark. i bet the trailer that is under it now, is the trailer "in question." for some reason, i thought it was getting the paint to match the boat. oh well....my bad. he was pretty proud that Baja chose his trailer for the 40'.
As far as "triple suction" is concerned, it will outrun a 38' Top Gun T/S w/ 500EFI's....
