1999 Baja 272 Worth???
I am in the process of looking for a new boat but don't know the value of this boat. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any of your help.
1999 Baja 272 Performance Engine: 502 mag mpi Hours: 291 Aluminum Heads, IMCO stainless headers, silent choice, MSD ignition, Bravo 1 drive, stainless 3 blade prop, IMCO drive shower, Gaffrig Gauges, Billet fire arrester, K&N filter, soundstream 4-channel amp, 10 in memphis sub, 6 6.5in bose speakers |
All those options you listed besides the silent choice, prop and gauges are add on stuff that doesn't increase the value of the boat. I'd say if it's in MINT condition 28-30k tops on a trailer.
|
what about a 252 boss, clean and same hours, 454 mag, and loaded up?
|
this is a friends boat its pretty darn nice
|
Thanks for the responses. I'm gonna pass on your 252 because I can get a buddies 25 Outlaw if need be.
|
There is a pretty nice 272 on Ebay now, its in good shape and has a killer stereo, trailer, etc, looks like "stock" power, but, would be a nice boat. I know NOTHING about it [or its history] just thought I would pass it along.

I wish you were looking earlier. I sold my 98 272 with the boss package to a guy in Florida. It had less than 200 hrs. on it and new 730 hp procharged motor and I sold it for $28,000.

Same with 29OL and 302, 33 OL and 342 ... Anyway, I'd say high $20s sounds about right. |

25 OL and 272 are very similar boats. Just which look your prefer. If I were looking for a 272 and could get a 25OL that I knew the history on (and liked the way it was taken care of) I would seriously consider it.

Agreed, except the 33OL beats them all :)

I'd say less than that even on a mint one $23-25K mint...average upper teens. A 1999 is getting to be an old boat and the winter, hard to sell season is upon us. |
Had a 272 we bought new for 7 years and 700 hours..... great boat !!!!
Price,,, I agree with the above uppers 20's on an Eagle/ comperable trailer. The boat your looking at has some upgrades that may not be necessary but are nice and were pricey. If the boat is in great shape ticking 30k would not bother me if you are planning on keeping it for several years |

I didn't feel comfortable with that price given that another buddy of mine bought a 2003 Boss 275 Performance for $30,000 two years ago and that boat is immaculate. Didn't really know if this was standard for the market or not. This is my first boat I will be buying. Been a boater for a while now and usually take out a friends 27' Advantage Victory every weekend, but I graduated college now and got the big boy job, so I figure it is time to get one of my own. |
Thanks again for all your help and all of your replies.

30,000 is WAY too pricey in this market. low to mid 20's for a 99. That's a price pre recession

The 25 Outlaw is a 1992 and in perfect condition but it has a 635 hp 540ci motor in it and I would rather stay with a relatively stock motor for reliability purposes.

If the '99 is really nice, offer the dude low 20s. All he can do is counter or say no. No harm done. You have the advantage.....you don't have a boat to sell. Keep looking, keep searching sites, making phone calls, etc. You'll get a good idea of what the true market prices are. There's always someone who "needs" to get out of a boat. |

Still miss that boat !!!! |

First time for everything !!!!! LOL !!!!

Ok so I am sensing that about 25,000 is what I should offer after reading everything. Thanks for all the input. If you have any other suggestions for me as far as buying a boat, I am all ears. Thanks again.

Just make sure you water test anything before you buy it.
Here's a good way to look at the cost of boating..... The more you use it the cheaper it is per hour of enjoyment. Pay $500 per month in boating expenses and use it once, That's a high price per hour of use. Use it 20 times that month and you can justify this little addiction we all have. :coolcowboy: |
Now to get more specific.
Jack the boat off the trailer and look for blisters where the boat sits on the trailer. Baja fixed mine under warranty as I was the original owner.... obviously not an option anymore. Also,,, take a wrench to the lag bolt that bolt the motor mount to the stringer and make sure its tight,,, that area wasnt sealed and I have seen a few rot right there,,,, that boat with a 502 probably should have had race mounts or at least standard mounts bolted to a through bolted L bracket . |

For what it's worth, I paid $32K for my '04 25 OL 496HO and had 54 Hrs on it...and that was last year. |

I agree, the '01 25 OL has some down sides but the price is very reasonable and could probably come off of that a bit. |
