I'd do very basic paint scheme unless you want to be married to the boat. I'd keep it simple on colors as well...Blues, reds, black, silver or grey. The rest disappear just like the colors of the 90's

Why do you think a paint job will not be sellable? I am not going to do anything extreme like the scheme boats, or a crazy poker run boat.

I think eye catching will help add to the value because it is not the "norm" that everyone else has next to you.

I am not sure exactly what model that is, but I am thinking either 272/5/8.
It's a 275 that I have never seen before. Deck hatch, and rear vents give it away.

While I agree the mid 90s Baja schemes are looking dated.....If I'm a buyer, my first question is why did it need paint and vinyl? I would think it has been neglected and you put lipstick on a pig to resell.

I wouldn't look at it as adding value because you're probably not. Look at it as something you're doing for yourself to enjoy your boat more.

If there's a chance at adding value it would be going with a newer factory scheme since the hulls have changed very little like Irish said. Just my .02.

Scott, I am a big fan of the carbon fiber looking vinyl. Even with a simple color scheme it really looks sharp and sets a boat off. It will probably be a year until I can send the Sunny off for some updates to the interior (motor comes first) but that will be what I go with.

One of the things that attracted me to my Sunny was the paint, it was not crazy or wild but fit the lines of the boat well and will age well. I think a tasteful interior and paint will add value to the boat in the future but obviously when you update or customize something....you will never really see your money out of it. Gotta do what you want and what you will be happy with.

Would be like painting mine green....Just cause I like it doesn't mean anyone else will...I agree update it don't personalize it. Flashy narrows your sellable market.

I understand where your coming from... I guess it comes down to someone actually looking that the boat, and the care that has been taken for it.

In my case, it was the previous owner that has not taken care of it, there for the vinyl is started to separate at the seams and starting to crack/tear. Well I could redo the stock colors, and leave the gelcoat alone, but why? Like you said the early 90's scheme is aging fast, I would like to update it a little bit, and give some new color to the interior, so I say I should probably make the exterior match... Just my thoughts. I am going to be painting the boat myself, so I will have no cost other than supplies.

If the paint doesnt ad value, hopefully the interior will. At any measure I dont think it will hurt the value of the boat considering its current condition.

But I exactly understand your point.

Thanks for the input!

I am thinking of doing a later generation Outlaw pattern, or just some mild striping, with baja logo and a 272 badging... Not some exotic one off paintjob or anything, 3-4 colors and quick and easy!

Matt, I was thinking about that too... maybe some platinum CF look or actual carbon look... Depends on what I go with, but thinking possibly Gray seating with Orange/Black trim, or White seating with Blue/Green or Blue Orange trim...

Gets my vote. Take lots of before and after pics to document and show potential buyers boat was not trashed to start with. Good luck! Look forward to the after pics!!!!
