Don't quote me, but I think I remember hearing a number like 7.25". That would be the distance from the bottom of the hull to center line on prop shaft. I believe the true X dim number to be measured at a different spot relative to the boat and therefore be a higher number. Again don't quote any of that, just trying to push the thread along a little. I do know our boats (272's) have one of the deepest X dim's out there.

Depends on who cut the hole in the transom. I'm not 100% sure there was a definate measurement

You have a better idea about his boat than you think. That is my old boat. You drove it and you have seen the prop shaft height. If I remember right you and Scott measured it and it was 7"

Hey Mike how are ya? i noticed that the boost gauge on the baja never moves until 5k rpms, then it jumps to 6-7lbs. i always thought that it runs with the tach. Also can you tell me where the rev limiter is set at. i asked bill for another build sheet but never got one. all i have is the little thumbnail image.thanks Patrick.

The boost gauge does not go negative, meaning that unless it is in boost it won't move. It should be going into boost a 4000 rpm. If it isn't then check the gauge. Last we spoke it was as it should but maybe you are just getting on it and by the time you look down it is at 5000 rpm. Do yourself a favor and GET THE HYDRAULIC STEERING ON! I don't want you to hurt yourself or anyone else. As far as the rev. limiter, I think it is set at 5600 and for the build sheet I will call Bill and get it for you.

Yea definately heed his advice on hydraulic steering that boat was a handfull prior to the motor setup and that was at 80+ I'd imagine now it's even more of a handfull!!!!

Most prop heights on Baja's are conservative and I'm guessing on a 272 it's probably around 7.25-8" keep in mind I'm guessing and it all depends on who ordered the boat as well...Some dealers had the ability to sign a waiver and get the X raised.

If you want to know what the prop height is hold a 4' level on the bottom and measure down from the top of the level to the center of the propshaft. I'm thinking Mike is right it was around 7" when we measured it.

Yea, like was said most of the boats from that time frame were 7-8" deep. My boat is a 1994 236 and it used to be 8" deep. I raised it up 3" and it really helped the speed and ride.
