Those motors may be 575HP with the chillers, but they aren't "575SC" Mercruiser engines. Neither the 525 or the 575 came with chillers.

That is correct. The aftermarket chillers were added at Baja, and were suppose to add like 60hp? Husky, we got your PM and would love to help you make the interior updates that you mentioned. Buy the boat and my copy of Powerboat Mag. is yours.

XT I'd guess he misinterprated the info of his powertrain at the time of his purchase. It was a factory 575 from Baja but although warrantied by the boat mfg. it wasn't a Mercury 575 production motor. We had many in depth conversations about the boat. It was a very special boat for him as a buyer and me too. He purchased it in his late 50's to keep at the summer house to enjoy with his kids and grandkids. Now in his early 70's he's looking to downsize and I'm in the same postion he was with my purchase to enjoy with my family and grandkids. I looked at many boats but this one was special to me due to it's factory history (although undocumented) and his story of their relationship with the boat. I hoping for a great survey on the unit. Thanks again to all of you members, this site ROCKS !!! See ya, Kelly |
I vaguely remember seeing it up there in the early 2000's.

If you want a little more history on it, you may want to contact Bill (jr) Littlefield at Shep Browns (http://www.shepbrowns.com). Bill's family owned Chanel Marine back then and chances are either Bill or Jim P. sold it.

Balance tube. Acts like an H pipe on a car dual exhaust system. I've seen some on production boats like Cobalts with Volvo power. At least this is my guess...

I'm guessing that is has to do with noise control since it is attached to the mufflers. Cancels out the pulses from the other side similar to the non-selectable Corsa diverters that split the exhaust out the transom and out the drive. Idunno4sho.
