We usually boat on the kankakee river, rite were it ends into the illinois/desplanes river. There is usually a half a dozen power boats out on the weekends, and lots of party boaters. There is a cool sand bar set up with a volleyball net, it is usually packed with boats and then there is a cove were it is calm water with bigger boats hangin out. There is two pretty good size marinas on the ill river(harborside and bigbasin),that has bar and restaurant.there is also a conservation area on the kkk with boat launches.we usually hang out on the kkk because the water is much cleaner than the ill/desplanes,but it does give you some good runnin area.come check it out,im sure you will have a good time!!!

Is this near Kankakee (the city)? My aunt and uncle live on Cobb Blvd right on the river and I've been wondering if it was a good boating spot.

Crazy Dayz, There is going to be a poker run in the quad cities July 16. If I am thinking the correct area for you, its only 120 -130 miles. Would love to see that boat again.

We have one June 24, 2011 at Lake of the Ozarks. 110 boats, 400 people should be a good time again this year.

The run will be in Miss. pools 14 & 15, 15 is bettendorf area and 14 will run about 35 miles to clinton. my second year living here in Iowa and I missed last year and I heard the outcome was good. Its a heavy populated boating area with great bars and party cove. I've sent Fixxxer22 (member here) a message to keep you updated as he is in contact with organizers for it. I think some details are still being panned out, but the buzz has been showing a huge turnout this year.
