350 motor upgrade question
I have an 86 baja force 220 with a 350. I was looking to get a little more power and I saw a set of vortec heads on cl for 100 bucks. So I'm gonna buy them but I'm really not sure what intake and carb to buy. Also the heads have a 1.5 ration which I believe is stock so I don't foresee any problems unless someone here can enlighten me. Otherwise any suggestions on an intake and carb.

Hey
Watch ur compression ratio w those heads. If ur motor has flat tops it'll b a touch high and risk detonation. I believe the heads are 67cc chambers. Depending on ur cam choice u may need to elogate the pushrod holes. tapping the heads for screw in studs is always a good idea.
Intake.........definatly an Edelbrock performer RPM air-gap! The regular performer is ok down low but the in the upper rev range will drop off. Plus, the rpm air-gap separates the runners from the vally pan for a cooler intake charge.
Id use a 600cfm carb. I ran one on my 400hp 383 and it was perfect!! If ur gonna run over 5500 rpm maybe a 650
hope this helps. Good luck.
