Default Liner boat issue

I have recently sold an 06 25 Outlaw and am in the market for a 29 or 30. I have read that the 30 is one model of the "liner" boats and have been known to develop stress cracks which are unrepairable. Are all years suspect? Is the cause HP/torque? The reason I ask is because the one I will be looking at is an 04 with 6.2"s. Where will these cracks originate and are they easely identified? Any and all information is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Good questions and if in your shoes would be looking at the 30 over the 29, no question, but would run as fast as you can from a 30 with 6.2's. Under powered with no resale value. That's like trying to order a 4 cylinder in a Corvette. Just not smart. The surface level stress cracks people get nervous about are nothing but cosmetic and if fixed WILL reappear. You'll see them up near the windscreen ends or near the cabin door, but again, purely at the surface level as the boat has needed flex built into it. With all this said, I know where you can get a beautiful 2005 30 OL with 496HO's that you would be very happy with. PM me with questions. Good Luck!

Whatever you do make sure you have it surveyed prior to buying. I know of several "liner boats" with hull issues and anything prior to 06 will have zero warranty from anyone.

I wouldn't buy any boat without having a survey done on it. It's money well spent.

What kind of speeds can you expect out on 33 with 496HO's? Versus the 30?

What are you looking to spend? I'd stay away from 2004 30 Outlaws many that year had problems. This one is pretty well set up: http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o37642-en.html
