Any Baja older than 1996 had a totally different way of recording the serial numbers. the C was still likely the month, but the 3443 was the number assigned in sequence based on orders placed for any Baja model.

There is a pretty ragged looking binder that "Sea Ray Customer Service" has to retain for the Coast Guard by law. It was only older hand written information that told you the Baja model, exterior colors, date started, dealer sold to, and date shipped for that HIN number.

There was a few times that I had to confirm a serial number for the CG that they though was a stolen/recovered Baja.

Hello, I bought a 1992 Baja Islander two years ago from a shady boat dealer and I can't seem to determine the length and motor. Does anyone know where I can locate a HIN decoder for this HIN AGCC1281H192?

I have a 277 islander and the hull id ends in 07 but the title says 2008? any one know whats up with that?

so mine is

model 342, # 007 out of 23 made that year, was started being built in August of 2001, and is a 2002 model.

Could be like the auto/car/truck industry. Anything manufactured after August, I believe 15th, it will carry the next year number.

Example: Chevy Truck made july 15th will be 2015, Same Chevy turck made August 15th will be 2016.

It was build in late 07 but was an 08 model
