Here is a better story yet!

When the salesman selling us speedometers told me that brand "x" speedo's were calibrated different than the rest of the marine industry? Anybody care to guess who would do that! This was before GPS was common.

I have the faria gages and the speedo read about 3mph fast.

Best I have seen is 70.7 on gps. That was cool weather, light load but flat water and all over the limiters. Can hit 68-69 anytime, any load and can usually get 70. Props are stock 26" Bravo's that need to be balance. I think with some prop work, decent chop, light load, etc I could get 72. Great boat though, rides good, and will cruise 50+ all day.

Thats what I have seen also.

Wishometer

I know my 496Mags would push mine slightly over 70 on wishometer and right around 68GPS[/QUOTE]

Hit a solid 70.5 on the GPS with 3/4 tank of gas 2 people, on pretty flat water today, 454 magnums MPI, 25 mirage plus.
about 4,800 rpm

Sounds like you need to get your RPM's up a little prolly pick up a few mph.

That was my thoughts also, i believe I would have to lab the prop to get there?

Those motors need to be up around 5200 RPM. Ditch the 3 blade propellers for labbed 26P Bravo 1 4 blades.
You'll gain all the way around.

I wondered about the 4 blade, but I thought they may have a little lower top speed.

I did try 23 3 blades and was all over the rev limiter, it came out of the water quick though.

Is 5200 were the rev limiter is set?

I had a boating buddy with a 32, and when he rafted to my 29ol I could not help but notice how much bigger my boat was.

Many times when we headed-out on Lake Erie when it was rough, he would not go.

I went from a 29 fever to a 302. Felt like I went from a canoe to a yacht. Of course i added an engine and slowed down by 10 mph. Everyone is looking for something different.

5250. Call Bblades and rent a 24p Bravo 1 and a 26p Bravo 1. Test them the same day and report back to them your GPS speed and RPM. That will get them the recipe they need to lab them.
I would suspect you'll wind up with the 26's.
