Default 24 Outlaw Top Speed

Got to run the boat sat with only 3 people in it, bout 1/2 tank of fuel with the new prop. Its a 24p Bravo that has been worked. still does good out the hole, and at 5000 rpm was gps at 66.2. Might be able to squeeze a lil more with more playing with the trim and stuf. But overall im happy with that. Cruising rpm was dropped with the prop too. used to cruise at 45 at 4000 and now itll do 50 at 4000. Does this seem about right for this hull? I know this boat isnt a very fast or efficent hull design, and its heavy.

Nice increase in the cruise speed.

How heavy is a 24?

Honestly sounds a bit slow. I know that 272's with a 502 will be close to 70. I would think that a 24OL with a 525 would be closer to the high 70's.

Don't you have some RPM left in that 5000 seams low. Isn't the 525 a 5400 RPM motor?

on the air breather is says max rpm 4800-5200. so yea could prob spin it a lil higher. also could prob take more prop. something like a 26 or labbed 28 and get more top end, but of course would suffer on the holeshot. and im not real sure on what the weight of the boat is.

Hmm. A 25 OL with a 496HO and a non labbed 3 blade is around 65-66. It does sound low. And yep, it is reccomended for 4800-5200. I would think it should run around 73, and if your x-dim is stock, a labbed M+ would most likely be faster than the labbed B1.

I have a Bravo 1 22P, and a mirage 23p on my 252 and I am wanting to trya Bravo 24p.

But i have a stock 454mag, so not sure how it will spin it if you barley spinning it with a 525 motor?

this sounds way off? what gearing you have inthe drive?

Its the 24. not the 25, i know there is a difference in speed between the two cause of better hull design. Yes the motor is not original. It was put in the boat about 2 years ago. before i bought the boat. Drive gear is a 1.50. Mabe the carb needs some better tuning. i know the jets in it are HUGE. like 102, so if its too rich, it would def effect power output. i woulve thought it should be able to run in the 70s as well. id like to try a larger prop to see how it handles it. boat has great take off. actually had 12 people on it and was still able to get up out the water no prob, and still did 62 with that many people. thats not a normal load though.

oh and fyi, the boat had a 22p bravo prop on it when i got it. but it would run out of rpm before throttle. i spun the motor to 5400 one time and got 61 out of it. so i knew it didnt have enough prop. from talking to the guy that did the prop, he said he added a lot of cup to it to help with lift.
