The checkmate version is probably a little faster - power for power.
Theres is much simpler with less options and a few things they just didnt do at all - like the swim ladder cover... The upholstery is a lot simpler too.

Don't remember if the Checkmate 350 ZT tested that much faster than old Baja 342's, but the engines weigh more now with closed cooling, and catalytic converters on them.
Call Dean Reynolds at Checkmate Marine for his honest opinion. He is the person that tested the Checkmate version, AND he would be the same person launching the 342 in the Boating ad that Dock posted from 99'.
