Smile Help

Hello all. I am new to the world of power/offshore go fast boats. I have grown up with boats but mostly Mastercrafts and 20-24' runabouts. I have been looking at boats for a while and Baja keeps coming up as an afordible option. Looking to spend aroud $30k +/- for a boat. I want it to have twin engines and be between 28' and 32'. I know it will be an older boat. Not to offend anyone but I hear a lot of mixed (down right ugly) reviews of BAJA. HELP!!!

Im on my third baja. Love them all. Had more issues with a newer fountain. I would look for a late 90s 29 Outlaw or 302. Both really good boats. Lots of similarities. Comes down to price and preference in looks.

Narrow it down to a model or two and the tons of experienced people around here will give you a hand. Find one in someone's neighborhood and they'd most likely even check it out for you. Good luck!

There is a '91 32 for 32xxx and a '96 302 for 38xxx in the classifieds. Don't know them, but they look nice. How much +30000?

There is a 32 Cal in Iowa. Has almost new 500hp 502's. Looks like it is nice shape but does have the older colors. They were asking 28,900.00

Just sear craigslist in Des moines

I also have a 280 would let go for 20,000.00

As far as ugly reviews, most are just haters. Many of the ones that talk bad about the Baja brand have never had one. Many just like to bash them because they paid a heck of alot more for one of the other brands. Many just don't like them because there are more of them than any other brand.

Certainly there are better boats, but you pay alot more for them. Yes there are faster boats, but none are as easy to drive or the same size as the Baja you could buy for the money.

I think you will find that many Baja owners have owned more than one of them. I have had 3, and if I could move up I would be looking for a 32 or a 33OL.

Cool Baja

Thanks for all the advice. The more the better. I am trying to arm myself with enough knowledge to make a good decision. I really hate to get an older boat that doesn't run as fast than I could have had with a Baja. I have had both sides of the story put to me from haters and bajalievers. I want to go as fast as I can on a budget and Baja just might be the way to go.

I don't know if I can spend the same amount of money for an older boat vs a younger. Thanks for the help. look forward to more of it and seeing ya'll on the water.

You should be able to find some good deals out there on that size boat. We come up to Lake Norman 3 or 4 times a year, is that where you boat?

We have a 33 Outlaw with 500 EFI's and love it. This is our 3rd Baja. Not the highest price boat out there, but we have had good luck with ours.

Don't see a ton of Halletts east of the Mississipi. I've been on 1 in Havasu. Very nice quality. Not a whole lot of freeboard though.

Plusses and minuses to having a one of a kind in your neck of the woods. You'll get a lot of compliments and people asking "dude, what is that?" But when you need help, you'll get the same question
