You wonder if the trend of the "flat paint" look will catch on in boats. Sure is popular and trending way up in bikes and cars and other industries. I personally like the look but can see how others wouldn't.

It might be a "one off" for the Baja King, just like his 30 OL was:eek:

Good or bad it has people talking so that can't be all bad.

I am looking forward to seeing it in person to check out the fit and finish of the boat.

bowtye8 08-21-2011 07:29 AM

I am not a fan of the looks. The seats do look like they are from the 70/80's.
The dash would look 1000x better with some Dark Carbon fiber trim(From the 06 aniversay edition)
Will be watching to see some other colors of this down the road.

If the "flat look" is coming to the boating scene. Its going to put all the boat detailers out of business cause all the faded will be in style then..yuck. I would like to see it at the shootout but I think my 88 Baja looks better then that one..

Talked to the new/old rep for Baja today, his phone number still works from the old Baja!
He said the seats are prototypes and NOT the final seat, the 277 Islander at LOTO this weekend has the production seats in it. The 26 Outlaw in charcoal is the first boat and a new gel they wanted to try for finish and shine. He said the boat is solid but the color is no indication of what the future of Baja holds. The gauge panel is stainless steel with Livorsi gauges and controls.
He indicated the decks are white as a standard and the full color boats were a no charge option, interesting.
Got a ton more info, but this was the major stuff I remember.

I have to say I kind of like the dash but itīs not a nice one to have for the eyes on a sunnt day....

c_deezy 08-25-2011 03:12 AM

It's kind of interesting to see the comments on this boat, and the totally different opinion of the last 41 Pantera on this thread.

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/p...a-website.html

Granted the 26 Outlaw can't hold a candle to the new Pantera as far as performance/overall bad-assness, but the color schemes are very similar and the opinions on the Pantera are all positive.

So it's not so much the color(s) itself, its the smaller details that really aren't doing this boat any favors. Which according to the post above hopefully will be limited to this boat only.

The only thing they could do to make it worse is the opposite of Abercrombie and Fitch and hire The Jersey Shores "The Situation" to take this boat on tour in the poker run scene.

New Liberty Bajas at LOTO

Come on you folks that were out at Loto, lets hear your take on the new Baja's that Liberty had there. Pics on here did not do it justice I hope, or....

30 outlaw 2005 08-29-2011 11:48 AM

They had both the 26 and the 277 at Ron's on Sunday. My personal take is they have a ways to go on the boats. The 277 had the perduction seats in it. Not using the bolsters that were in the 26 outlaw.
On my way back from LOTO and will post some pictures tomorrow.

Sorry we missed you at the lake. We got there and missed the fun run and before we knew it was Saturday and we were heading home! The weekend flew!

bms26 08-29-2011 04:09 PM

I saw the 26 Outlaw Wed night at street party and still think its very fugly! The crew from All About Boats did not seem to know much about it either which I thought was strange being they are the new Baja Dealer:eek:

It depends on what time it was. It could have been the wet test the tech was doing before we got there. Was it with a red transom? If so it was ours. :drink::drink:

Hope it sounded alright. :party-smiley-004:

This project was and is still a nightmare. I had to get an exhaust clamp overnighted so I could make the fun run which we missed due to having to pull engine yet once again to align it on the front mounts left to right!! The list just keeps growing.

30 outlaw 2005 08-31-2011 12:08 PM

The boat sounded great. It was between 8-9 am. I was was able to see it make a couple of runs up and back. Thought it was a much larger boat before I saw it. I knew there was no way that it had a 496 in it. LOL Hope everything works out for you. It sounded great and looks like it was running very strong.

Anchorman 08-31-2011 12:38 PM

I was not able to see the 277 but looked at the 26 quite a bit. The cuddy was very plain to say the least. The color is not an indication of what is on the production line as they have many different color combinations on production line available for order. Dealers are starting to order boats and the dealers group is starting to take shape from what I was told. I will say the Donzies they had there were very sharp looking so the quality is there to make a quality product.

I got some photos from someone that was there. Here are some of the 26ol cuddy, and 277 production bolsters.

That was the shop running it before we showed up. Glad it sounded good... my buddy said he needed ear plugs in the back seat. :party-smiley-004:

Hopefully next year we can meet up next time you come back to the lake. :drink:

just a good friend from the other building (assembly) who admired and recognized the quality that work you guys did over in PD&E (and upholstery shop).

thundercat1001 09-02-2011 04:26 AM

I owned a baja in the past and really like the brand. But this will not make be buy a new one. The interior is terrible and cheap looking. BRING BACK THE AREO SEATS!

Here is the original 26 Outlaw #001. I just noticed it was on ebay. I spent ALOT of time on this boat!

It was the only 26 with these graphics that I can remember.
