rev plate , need a answer

I bought a 24ft outlaw 1997 w a 502 mag ho and supercharger ( it does 80-85 mph). The original owner, took the rev plate off. He told me that if i jump the boat out of the water alot the egine will over rev and blow up.

He took the rev plate off for higher rpms and I guess to increase the speed.

I am worried about blowing the egine because it is 2009 almost brand new engine.

i don't take the boat out of the water alot.

My question to anyone is,

Will I lose alot of speed if I put the rev plate back on?
How much speed will I lose?

The boat does between 80-85mph. The original owner had it gps at that speed

If I do lose alot of speed, how can I gain it back?

I think you're trying to say Rev limiter. Tell us about the engine. Is it fuel injected or does it have a carburetor?

Yah never heard of a rev plate.. All you have to do is pull back on the throttle if you jump out of the water.. And if it is in fact a rev limiter, no it will not hurt to put it back on.. As far as them speeds, I am not going to buy the 80-85 mph, unless it is a SERIOUSLY built set up with all the rite stuff..

yes i own the boatand had it up to78 mph, myself, the owner said tobecareful when it comes out of the water, becasue he blew a 454 that way , don't know the pitch, but it is a spinelle prop, and it was custom for that boat and they pitched it to get certain rpm, don't know to much, what is a msd box

rev limiter shock absorber arm question

just bought the boat for this season. new to the high performance end of boating , couldn't find a mechanic locally that was an expert on high performance engines, but found someone willing to work on it, and learn what he didn't know, he has a friend that was into high performance boats, so he has been consulting with him and is going to ask him about the rev limiter, the original owner called it a rev plate.

egine info

holley fuel injection system,, plus fuelinjector on egine, two fuel injectors

502 ho magnum 2009 merc

m1 intercooled pro-charger total psi total hp 720 owner said

bravo one out drive

question: i guess they call this a side winder hydralic shock absorberarm , it has no hose, but is supposed to support the out drive:

I heard pro and cons from the company called imco about it, but he is trying to sellme his product , he said this type of arm does more damage to the out drive then good, because it causes more resistance so things will wear out quicker, his product is an "external adapted hydraclic steering arm" since there are hoses hooked up toit, it is a better system, he said mine was old school and found to cause more damage then good. he said that i only need a single arm, becasue i don't run all day at 80 mph, he said it should be sufficent,.

what is you opinion?

do you know anyone that works on high performance boats with this type of set up?

when the mechanic, and i had it out the first time,we had it up to 78mph and had room left on the throttle to go faster, the owner had it gps between 80 and 85 mph, the owner liked speed, and had a custome spinelle prop made forthe boat. next year i will see if i can do 80 to 85, my boat season is over and being put in for the winter.

I told someone else earlier whatthe boat has in it, there could be more, dopn't know much about egines and the second owner i bought it from new nothing, i had to contactthe original ownerwith help on it

it has a k&n Filter, hollie fuel injector system, m1 intercooled procharger, 4 blade spinellie prop, 502 ho mer magnum. it may have more, and the owner said he had it pushed to its limits with in reason. not to fAR THAT IT WOULD damage the engine,

it roars like a lion, and shoots outn of the water like a rocket
