Agreed, but I suppose every little bit helps. Yould remove all carpet and go with 6 inch wide teflon I suppose.

Wood and carpet act like a sponge and hold the water in.

The slides don't hold water.

They are not designed to hold the boat, use a separate strap to hold it.
