If the boat doesn't have hydraulic steering and offshore mounts the motors where put in the boat most likely was a 7.4L boat. with correct engine mounts motors shouldn't matter. Make sure you have motors checked for saltwater damage. I've seen the water passages in the intake and thermostat housing ate through from salt.

Thanks Irish. It has full Hydraulic steering. Was a factory boat. He just moved to the area and this is first year of salt and flushed regularly. I have a line on a surveyor who will check things out once I am ready to move on it. On another note my buddy just picked up a 98 302 for $30k with full hydraulic steering as well with 454mags in it. Nice boat and great room in it.
