I got mine today-ordered last Tuesday.

I have owned an original Anchor Shade (which everyone says are nicer than the new ones), and I can tell you that these Bimini shades will put Anchor Shade out of business. The Bimini has a sunbrella like material coated with vinyl on the underside, the Anchor has light nylon like a regular umbrella.

The Bimini comes with eight straps, Anchor has four.

The Bimini also comes with a suction cup(BIG) for the bottom-seems like it will work real well on a smooth deck to hold it in place(I lifted my 8 year old with it )

The lock mechanism is like the older Anchor shades(flip lock) but I never had a problem with mine.

I always loved my Anchor Shade and kept it through 3 boats, but at less than half the price it looks like the Bimini is the way to go.

Default Update

Returned my Anchorshade to West Marine because it came apart at the seams. I have had it 6 weeks in total, used 4 times. West Marine offered a new Anchor Shade, credit or my money back. Took the credit & bought other goodies I needed. I am definately going to buy the "other" brand for $90 + shipping. I quess I just had one that was made at 4.30 pm on a Friday afternoon
West Marine were great!
