There's what appears to be a really clean '98 252 on ebay. Can't post link. On my phone.

Thanks for the heads up on that one. Boat's been for sale for a while, but seems like its not in the best shape?

I've also narrowed the search to a 232, I dont think we need the 252 after being on both, and I was pretty happy with the 232's ride.

The big problem now is planing speed, not time to plane, but lowest speed the boat will stay on plane. I'm looking for GPS 18 MPH, had a lot of trouble getting a 232 to do this with the 7.4, so looking for one with a 6.2 to see if the lighter engine will help planing speed. If anyone knows the lowest a 232 w/ 6.2 will plane let me know.

Dude, you're wasting all your young boating years turning this into a science project. Find a good affordable boat, pick up some suds, your buds, and babes and get on the water. You wait too much longer and this thread will turn into a search for a cruiser or pontoon.

Thanks for the heads up but only looking for a 232 now. Other 232 requirements: windshield, and drop out bolster seats.

If you're looking for a 6.2MPI it'll have to be 2001-02 or newer if I'm not mistaken. As far as planing speed goes, I don't know that you will ever get a 232 to plane under 20-25MPH. My 232 Islander doesn't like to plane under 25MPH even with the tabs and drive all the way down. I think this is due to the 24 degree deadrise. Good luck with your search... I shopped around almost a year for the perfect boat as well, then settled for the closest thing i could find, and modified it to what i wanted.
