i have another question. my buddy is looking at possibly trading for a 290 this weekend which has brought up some questions. the 290 has a 21 degree dead rise and 9 foot beam, was that a boat made from a clean slate or another hull mold revamped? it doesnt seem to share its geometry with the rest of the bajas.

The 290 was a stretched 260 hull, and the beam was raised and widened to 9'. I owned one of each model.

Great history...keep it alive! On the 91' (?) 260 hull you had was it stock motor, what wheel ya run? Im testing a few and having issues (in prop section) with slip. Do you think the Mirage prop is not as good as the mirage plus even if it has added cupping? You try the rev 4 on it?

XT-I have a '93 260 that I bought in '98. It has held up very well. What was the thinking when they decided to put a 21* deadrise bottom on them instead of the 24* on most of the other boats? Also, do you have any brochures on 260s? Thanks.

Hi XT.! You just Hi-light my 'little scarry moment' of the season..!. I have a 1999 29ol single engine 454 genIV 490hp dyno. I was racing a friend 1990 38scarab with stock 454 we have about same top speed (+-60mph). While going there was a big cruiser in front of us, I angle to jump his wave and slow speed down to 50mph. The river is not wide so right after jumping the wave I turn hard left and in the same time back off a little throttle for not' scarring the passagers'. Well it doest work like plan..!!! The boat bank left real hard, so much that there was barely a inch of hull clear at the rear seats before water get in,,, and the nose tip was flat even with the water...!!!! What the **** happening!!!:cartman: I 'II back on throttle idmediatlly and turn right. It come straight with ease,,, but girls behind where welling for there life..!!! I sure we where close to a 80degre angle... Know I understand the reason why we have lean so much.... Thanks for this great info... I like to ask you something else. I have remove the hook's in front of the tabs and that have give me a 2-3mph (wot60mph) and faster acceleration. Do you know if a 8ìnch jack stern will give me a little more speed?? I like the single engine. I can cruise at 20mph with friends with cruiser's and open bow. I can also go 'fast' with speedboats and taking waves. And the fuel comsumption is great with +- 2.5mpg. Now If I could gain a little more speed and closing to 65mph it will be great!!!

I think it was the 21 or 23 Mirage. The Plus always helped on a Baja hull and I would not be afraid to try a 21 Rev. on that hull, but never had the chance. X-dim is too deep for a Bravo1. IMO

You have to remember the this boat was to replace the good selling Baja 235 Force in 1990 that had a 20 degree bottom, therefore the shallow 21 degree. The 270 was the 24 degree model of the time.

Ya, i tried the Mirages then the Rev 4, The rev 4 gave me almost 5 mph better. Great Prop, great lake boat...but not for the ocean as might of thought so I sold it the next day.

Didn't know they made 29s with singles..... I like it! Post up some pics!
