Allen4, I felt the same way and decided to check the tube itself before searching for the special torx. Good thing, since I found a small crack in it. Not sure how that could happen but it's nothing a little hardware and zip ties won't fix.

It would suck to limp home from 10 miles away because the damn speedo tube came off
A few years ago, my wife and I picked up a new Hammer. After about 10 minutes of hammering, I noticed water pouring in around my feet. Well, I said to my self, if there's a leak somewhere, might as well go as fast as I can (thinking I'd take on less water that way). Only thing was, the faster I went, the more the water poured in.

After a panic run back to the marina, I noticed the water stoped as soon as i did:eek:

Duh!

:D :D

Had that sort of thing happen to me (stupid ass) a few years back with my ski boat. I put the boat in for the first run of the year. About 2-3 minutes into it I think ".......Hmmmm, feels a little sluggish.......". Well, I (stupid ass) forgot to put one of the plugs back inot the block, so water had filled so quickly that there was water actually sloshing out of the bilge onto my feet within about 60 seconds later!!!!!!! So, I find the problem, shut her off and by then the bilge pump was having a sh*t fit. I find the plug tucked under some papers in the glove box.......and to think I had about 25 years of boating under my belt at that time.........(stupid ass):p
