I was able to get the spi-wrap off (even the manual had this step), so I'll try to re-use it if it doesn't get damaged. Not cheap, but tired of going to the dealer and waiting on parts....

I did mine from the transom end . used a ton of grease, can of beer, and bar stool, then slowly worked it over the brass.
