Ouch! I'd like to have some lights, but don't want a second mortgage to do it. $500 each seems a bit steep...

I was thinking the same thing, I have seen good ones for less money. I know people who have had great luck with "Ocean LED" but, they too are pricey

Redneck engineering: Buy two halogen blue fog lights (or clear if you please). To Waterproof them: silicon any seams and where wires go in, put heavy tape with paper on face so it doesnt stick to the lense, dip in plasti-dip (hardware store for tool handles), revove tape after dry.
Twice as bright for $25-150. +no drilling holes in transom. |

Have you had any luck with their trim tab mount setup? Can you pm me a price for a set of blue LEDs and the trim tab mount kits?
Thanks Larry |

I saw a slick little mounting bracket that mounts the lights to the trim tab rather than though the transom

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a pair of the blue t-12 ocean LEDs does anyone have any pictures of instalation on a single engine? They are going on my h2x and should have them installed in about 2 weeks I'll post some pictures for sure

http://www.shadow-caster.com/shadowc...trim-tab-mount Seems simple, and I like the idea of not drilling/cutting into my transom more than necessary. Maybe make up an aluminum or stainless angle and bolt to the upper surface of the tabs. On the "redneck engineering" front, why not use some high intensity LEDs instead, and waterproof them as required? Should also be able to source locally more easily.... |
i have coastal night lights on my boat, 2 single blues. they do pretty decent especially for the money but i am wanting more already. i was just on ebay and the oceanleds actually seem to be geting more affordable. they have a trailer series light that is ideal for most of us that do not leave our boats in the water. they are less resistant to to corrosion but if your boat doesnt sit in salt water all the time it wont be a issue. wal mart, yes wal mart has some underwater transom specific lights for 30 bucks each and honestly they are pretty bright for what you pay. there was a guy out one night with a set and i thought he had high dollar ones as bright as they were, when he told me they were wal mart lights a i about crapped my self lol
