32 Caliber questions
I finally have the means to purchase a performance boat and saw a 1994 32 Caliber repoed not far from me. I am wondering how these boats take the water, burn gas, and what a good price for one on a normal day is. Thanks.
I've had some seat time in a 32 outlaw, which is the same thing.
They're a pretty good riding and handling boat. Fuel consumtion depends on the power and how hard you run it. Price depends on condition....I'd say in the $ 35-40 k range on average |
40k for a '94 ??? that is a surprising number, I figured I would offer them 18k for the boat since it is a repo and very dirty. the boat has newer EFI 454s in it, however it hasn't touched the water since at least 2005 (thats when registration expired)
If it's a pig, then offer them less.
The # I threw out is on average what I've seen people ask for them. |
Its not a pig by any means, just dirty, I have not been on it but the pics, make it look like its not horrible, just needs a lot of soap and wax. no trailer included though, but I think it would be a perfect boat for the money, and money could be made even, but that is a long shot.

you can always go up but real hard to go down in price when you are trying to buy Bigboater where you at on Catawba parents use to have a place next to the old treasure cove right on the curve
I boat out of Gem Beach, family has a house in a newer development in that area, Catawba Place is what it is called. Not far from Treasure Cove.
Great boats. I loved mine!
I agree with JT and like he said, depends on condition. If its a repo with no trailer then yeah offer in the teens, fix it up and enjoy! http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/...n/P4140081.jpg |
Is it from that area? check out the stringers and transom real well... there is not a bigger 32 foot boat I know of, my 320 had so much space... same thing just older...
Marblehead, you are close by, this boat is in Michigan, I will show link, Harrison Marine repoed it.
crawl in that boat and take a hammer with ya, tap on the front and rear bulkheads, and stringers, also transom, the older Bajas get wet all the time, many holes were not sealed well, when you find the wet spots it will give you room to beat them up on price, I doubt its completely dry, could be a good buy for the right money, I think if you got it under 20 you would be doing ok, still gonna put money in it, but its a good starting point..you will like that boat on lake Erie, one of the better hulls for big water that Baja made, better ride then many other 30-32 foot boats
offer them 15000 and go from there
Keep in mind it looks like its been sitting.. If it was not winterized your screwed
Full Force, thats a good point and I agree... I figured I would definitely get a survey, and once it warms up a sea trial, should I go through with it. I saw a youtube video of one of these, I fell in love with the cockpit, its huge.
Search my user name in Baja section for my video old school 320 force was good rollers that day... Fun ride! Same hull but the older ones were a littl heavier...
Looks pretty decent to me.. Has some nice extras like the K planes and hydraulic steering, cabin looks clean.. Definitely get a survey by someone that knows what there doing and crawl around in there even after the survey and check it yourself.. I would start at mid teens and negotiate from there, with some blood, sweat and tears I think you would have a really nice boat, negotiate for the trailer also...
Full Force I cannot find the video, fleg thats what I am hoping now, I am looking to dump my current boat, and work the numbers for that one, because I doubt it will be as friendly on gas as a 20 ft Pro Line :lolhit:

the thing is, says no trailer, but then shows info listed on trailer... maybe it does come with one?? I would offer 15-17,000 tops and see what they say, a good cleaning I bet she looks sweet!! |

my video is here..sure was a fun ride that day!! rarley get far apart rollers like this on Erie, was like being in ocean... my buddys wife took the video from their Mistress.. I beat the fuk out of that poor boat, she did well, in this video we were doing average of 50-55 and I had no tab in it, I love the TRS boats... http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/b...=320+lake+erie |
WOW, that is sweet, I was in my neighbor's 480 Sea Ray last October when it was like that, he tried running wide open, it didn't work so well for him.. what were waves like that day? 4-6s? The boat did a great job, and looked good doing it, think this 32 Caliber would run similarly?

if its wet you get a good deal, then call Kevin Brown and have him do the glass work, he worked for Baja for years, on his own now... |
Kevin Brown is Laeway Boat Repair in Attica Oh he will fix you up if you have any wood / glass issues he replaced my stringers and transom last year
great to know, I am thinking about contacting Harrison Marine shortly, before deciding to drive all the way there..a sales rep at POP pointed this out to me. Don't know if any of you know about their marketing program but its really neat, and they do a good job. I asked him about a different boat a few weeks ago and he contacted me the other day to see what I would be interested in and pointed me toward this http://www.popyachts.com/view/15813 Same thing only cleaner, with one kickin' stereo, you can see 8 speakers in the dash alone, and 2 amps. 1000 watts he said... this is where the finished, and needing work collide and I start to wonder which would be better.... I was told this could be had for around 25-26k.
I have not ever had to have glass work done, so I would definitely contact them if it was needed.... I wouldn't be too game for running with my boat ready to fall apart.
That other Baja is the most solid you will find... That boat was a buddy of mines he sold a year ago... He had every inch of it redo e by Kevin brown... Reinforced more then any 32 out there and I know the boat... That's the better buy for sure... Bob loved that boat but found he was never using it anymore so he sold it... The hull was fully blueprinted and all went 83 mph with blower motors years ago...
Positive it is the same??? The salesmen told me current owner has owned for multiple years.

I still know there was extra reinforcements done to that boat and hull was blueprinted, the whole floor was taken out and redone in early 2000's and since the boat was not used much after all that and sat on a hoist or trailer.. Across the transom above rub rail it used to say "Nuff Said" and it may still be there, not sure, Akron Oh. engines are Tb injected 454's I think either 330 or 360 hp.. boat runs around 62-65 with that power... |
Here is one of the threads when he was doin g some of the hull work...

I am surprised to see it as dirty as it is, but like I said, Bob spent a fortune redoing that boat over the years... |
that was bajalion's boat wasnt it i never saw it but talked to him on the boards a few times mostly IP
Wow the boat has had some work done to it hasn't it, is the previous owner still on the forum?
He might be... User name is sscomp
That boat has been forsale on CL for atleast the last year. They were asking big money for it as well. Now I see it is at Harrisons so they must have just left it sitting out some place. As it looks dirty as heck.
Thanks Full Force, I will PM him.
Nightlife you are referring to the repo correct? Not the other one?
