33 or 36 OL
In the market for one of the two. looking for 2000 and newer and don't want to spend over $80,000. Just any suggestions would be appreciated.
|
You should have lots to select from with that budget. Where are you boating? Overnighting much? Do you really need the extra 3'? Personally I like the 33 better. Faster with the same power, plenty of cockpit space, well balanced hull, lighter, easier to trailer.....
|
Mainly boat inland lake in northern MI. Not much overnighting just cant decide if the 36 is worth the extra money. It seems like the prices on the 33 are all over the board. Are any really selling at some of these crazy prices. In my mind I should be able to get a nice 04 33' for $65,000. I could be wrong though.

The extra 3 feet is in the cabin between the two.
If your not overnighting and on an inland lake ,,,,the 33 would be a better choice |
Both GREAT boats! I really love my 33! You won't go wrong with either boat. The 33 is faster and the 36 handles rough water a little better but the 33 WILL handle more then what you will enjoy boating in anyways!
Where in Northern MI do you boat? What boat do you currently have? |
This 35 is a SWEET boat also, yeah its more then you want to spend but great boat. Measures 38' overall. Could always make an offer.

Thanks everyone for responding. Im coming from a 25 outlaw ,but its been a couple years. We mainly will be on Torch but will also spend some time on Saginaw Bay and Tawas area. Its just been a couple years since boat shopping and prices seem to have gone up a bit from 2010. We will probably end up with a 33'. Looking at one locally just waiting for weather to cooperate for test drive. There are some nice ones in the classifieds but seem to be priced on the high mark.

Just moved up from a 252, to a 342. and a world of difference. could never go back now.
That being said. Not sure you will scoop one that low. for that new.. but it depends on how clean, and hours and options. My 2002, loaded was in that kind of money. so 2 years newer with less options may happen. just depends. |
If you want to have fun fun fun cant go wrong with a cigrette glad look at ofo

You will love having Blue Engines if you can find a deal on them. Or anything reliable with 500hp plus.
|
^ What he said.
Get something with blue power. Reliable and easy to upgrade when you are ready. Especially in the 33... you will eventually want more. |

I have been lucky enough to spend some time riding in and driving both the 33 and 36 and personally, I think the 33 handles the rougher water a little better. The 36 is a big heavy ride and it kind of just plows through while the 33 has a little better balance and can get on top of the rough and rip. That said, ride is pretty subjective in both of these boats. I like the 33 better overall myself.
Here is a pic of my old 25 next to Jeff's 33 and Dock's 36. Thought it was a good image of the size difference from the back and how much deeper the 36 is. |
think about the 33 zx it has a full loaded caban 5'6" head room twin step and i have the 500hp efi's mine was a 2000 and picked it up for 55.

even with the 496's i think 70 would probly be a good number. and it is a 04

Go for a 33 or 35 Outlaw. I like the 35 because of the dash/shifter lay out. If you choose a 35, make sure you get someone that is a gel coat expert to look in those hidden places. The 35 is a liner boat, and there are a few out there with hull issues.

Thanks everyone for the info. We went and looked at a 2000 33' with 502's stock with 200 hrs. It's a local boat with not a mark on it. I'm kind of thinking about doin it because the condition is nearly perfect and knowing the people that own it make a big difference. Hopefully, we can meet on a fair price. Its also sitting on a Beautiful Manning trailer. I'll keep ya posted

SO TRUE haha |
Thanks SP3132 .... when I first bought it I just thought the colors where ok. After having it a short while I realized I really like the colors and the graphics. I would recommend the 33' oultaw to anyone. Excellent boat for the money and the best part is the dance floor between the front and back seats. I wish other boat manufacturers would make more room between the seats like the 33 Outlaw.

I looked at the 04 33' when it was for sale at an auction in Bay City about a month ago. The odd thing was one motor was blown up and the other had low compression in one of the cylinders now I see its advertised with clean bill of health. Kind of odd.
|
I am kind of bias as i just got a 33! Been out only a cpl of times but love the ride vs my 25ol and it has all the room I wanted and doesn't seem that big once in the water.. gets up with ease and +1 on the dance floor!!
|
I bought my 36 in '05. That boat was for sale then, but may have sold and is now for sale again. Lots of money spent on it, but priced way to high for todays market.

It sold for $ 57,000. But on the auction sheet there were motor issues.
