Congrats! If your there Saturday, we'll be doing the Dam2Dam fun run if you want to put some hours on it if you buy it.

Here's a thread that has all the weights I calculated out for my 292 and trailer..

Wow! Congrats, that was quick! If your now in the market I would take it slow, do your research, ask a lot of questions, if you want power, certain drives, tabs, hyd steering ect, now is the time, cheaper in the front end then adding later! Just my 02...

Good luck !

So I got the 292 Islander from Performance Boat Center and couldn't be happier! I already did a few things to it such as replacing the speakers, a serious detailing, replaced the slam-latches on the front compartment with new ones, and I've had it out on the water! I love the smooth ride and I used a GPS app on my phone to clock it in at about 58 mph but I had about 8 people on it. I'm sure it will break 60 with just me on it.

That's awesome! Congrats!

What gear ratio is your drive and what pitch props do you have?

that's a great looking boat! I've been watching that same islander that someone posted thats listed for sale in Austin. I also think its overpriced but maybe they'll get real on $$ after the end of the season. This will be a significant move up in size for me and my first twin if I get that one. I'm open to any advice on 292's from anyone!

Cajun - The 496 HO has plenty of power and I have GPSed the boat in the high 50's. The twins would be amazing but would also burn about 1/3 for fuel. Which one are you looking at? Is it the one in Texas in the $50k price range? My best observations so far is that this hull rides and handles extremely well. I'm also amazed that I can stay on plane at such low speeds due to the trim tabs and bravo--3. The twin 350 setup will likely have Alpha outdrives.

Plowtown - I'll have to check on the drive ratio, tomorrow I'll be working on it as I'm adding bunks to the trailer and removing the 'v-guide' from the front to be replaced by two new bunks.

AJ, thanks for the response. That 292 in austin is a 2004, has twin 6.2s with around 420hrs and bravo 3's. But he wants close to $60k without a trailer. Seems pretty steep to me so i'm just continuing to keep my eyes open. I'm definitely shooting for a 292 due to the "family" boat and speed compromise. I'm jealous that you and plowtown found yours!
