Most will say they like the "handling" of the boat with the 4 blade. "on plane faster with less slip and turns better".
I guess I can understand that considering they're most likely comparing it to some beat up stock POS. The Mirage Plus props have high slip numbers stock and can blow out pretty easy. AKA they SUCK. But, the four blade is a stern lifter, the exact opposite of what your (deep prop) 272 wants/needs to free up and run faster.
Brett's reciepe will reduce the M+ slip numbers bigtime while also (added cup) carrying the bow. It changes the running characteristics of the boat completely...hole shot, mid range response and top end by 2-3 MPH.
I guess I'm trying to say, don't make up your mind this weekend based soley on the fact the 4 blade feels better than what you're "used to". The Bblades M+23 is THE RIGHT PROP for your boat. Good Luck!

That's a good looking ride you've got there professor.
Funny you said that as I was on the phone with Brett today too. Actually my prop is there now. He's going to give it an MRI this week so we can figure out exactly what he built back in 08 and duplicate it. If you're talking to him in the next day or two ask him about it, he'll know what you're talking about. It's been worked big time but it also works big time. I have none of the undesirable characteristics of the stock M+.
The 272 owner I loaned it to added 7 MPH to his WOT# not 1-2. Also every 272 was shipped with a Mirage Plus 23p 3 blade unless ordered with something else. I still don't disagree with anything you said. I hope the OP is getting some answers. Nice boat, cheers.

Thanks , What i was saying is 1 mph or so difference between a worked M+ and a worked Bravo 1 4 blade , this is what most guys seem to say . What kind of Hp and Tq are you running and what kind of top speed ?

Those numbers are classified brutha.
Honestly I don't know real HP/TQ numbers. It's been "warmed up" HP 500 Gil manifolds, re flashed ECM, + timing, shelled out flame arrestor, etc. Estimated around 450+ HP in my mechanics opinion. It must be close to that because it takes an honest 500 HP to move a 272 70 MPH. I've GPS'd 69 and change right at 5000.

May I ask a stupid newbie question here please. My 97 272 came with the bravo 3 that I broke this past weekend. it has (1 time) run 60 gps at 5k with the bravo 3 28" props. I'm guessing since the sticker were changed that I have the 2.0 gear set. can I get to 64-65 mph by switching gearing with the bravo 3? If I switch to the bravo 1 what gear ratio case do I need to get to correspond with the props your recommending?
Thanks

I had a 25ol with 454 may and best was 64.7, and that was 50 degrees out and 2ft chop. Full fuel
Any summer day was 61-63 depending on load.. cruise was 4k at 49-50 and that was my overall goal.
So fix it and enjoy!!
