Help with Exhaust Tips: 2000 272
Need a little help guys. Just picked up a 2000 Baja 272 with a 502 Mag....I'm looking to swap out the exhaust tips for a louder set-up. I'm pretty sure I have the stock Corsa tips with the internal baffle and external rubber flapper (Boat has Silent Choice). I know this is a bad pic, but it gives you an idea of what I have. I want it louder, and want to go with a slash cut tip....Any recommendations on which ones to get...sizes, etc....I neglected to measure what the current ones are before it got put back up on the high and dry? Thanks

Teague should be more than able to help, they are just the simple 4" set up. I wouldn't expect it to be a lot louder, but it should give you a slight improvement and they'll look cooler.

When I had my 25 I wanted to do the same thing, but was talked out of it due to how low the tips sit, if you lose one of your internal flappers and come off plane, boom...

Man, I like the sound of my 496 cam a whole bunch better than that 502's.
But I think headers would help you. |
4" slants for the tips with no burn internal flaps

New exhaust tips are not going to make it any louder. You already have straight out tips with no mufflers.

Crew got me investigating and I soon found out that my exhaust (silent choice) has a turbulator between the exhaust manifold and the elbow, so...........being the tinkerer that I am I took about 45 minutes and pulled mine off.
Wow!! What a difference just sitting there in my driveway...it idled much louder and when I revved it up I hit the rev limiters pretty quickly, never hit the limiters before doing this. Anyway....you might check to see if your engine has those turbulators. Might be worth a shot. Now I wonder how it will do out on the water...can't wait. |
