38 special capacity?
My 93 38 special does not have the capacity sticker showing how many I can legally have on the boat. Does anyone know or have a picture of what the sticker looks like?
|
Such is not typically issued for inboard/outboard boats.

I don't recall having that on my 33ol, but I just make sure I have life jackets for all!
|
It should have a yacht certification placard some where around the helm. PFD's for as many as you can hold and a throw cushion, should keep you legal.
|
Capacity plate are only required for boats less than(I think) 22' or so. None of my boats over 24' have had one.

One sticker I saw on a 38 said " You can get a lot of MoFos on this Boat"
|
Works for me!

My 272 has the yacht certification placard I imagine you have one somewhereotoo, mine is located under my throttle levers at the helm.

It's 9 person capacity

So I cannot leave well enough alone. It took me half a day of work to find the correct answers, Thanks to Chuck Wagner at Baja Marine who knows more about the coast guard regulations than any other coast guard person I talked to.
FEDERAL LAW 183.21 - Applicability This subpart applies to monohull boats less than 20 feet in length, except sailboats, canoes, kayaks, and inflatable boats. Boats under the 20’ mark are not required to show a capacity rating. The Coast Guard will generally use the following Length times width divided by 15 to get a safe person rating. |
