Upgrading switch panel
Im currently in the process of upgrading my 2002 232 switch panel. It currently has 9 spots but I need at least 3 more. I purchased a either 245 or H2X panel with 14 spots so am good there, other than it needs to be wrapped to match my patten. However Im now left with how to proceed and have a few questions. The first 3 spots are for new LED lighting.
- My current panel does not light up unless the switch is on so I have to memorize the panel (not a big deal). Did Baja ever make the panel light up with the anchor lights or just all the time? What year did this start?
- Im considering buying this panel and using the switches and fuse block out of it: http://greatlakesskipper.com/baja-07...l-w-fuse-block Is it a light up panel? It would also upgrade me to the new style engraved covers which I prefer.
- Would the best option be to just keep all my current wiring and switches, and buy the extra switches and wire them in as needed?
- I also need to replace my fuse block as it seems like the main ignition fuse got hot, and has been replaced with a fused lead.
Thanks!

I did the same thing a couple of years ago on the 252. The 245 panel should have lighted switches. You might also consider moving the ignition and kill switches to the side panel, particularly if you have an islander. It is much more convenient, allows greater movment of the steering hand and keeps the lanyard from getting blown around. Here is some before and after.

Our 252 is a 2001 vintage and did not use the newer Deutsch connectors that are really nice, waterproof connectors that don't cost an arm and a leg. So long story short we converted to the new connectors. Try www.wirecare.com for great products and service. Actually this was a larger project to improve the dash so we ended up doing a lot of wiring. You probably will also. The boat will be 10 lbs lighter when you finish.

BajaDan - How are the new switches lighted? From what I understand they should be red when the Nav/Anchor light switch is turned on. Then change to white when each individual switch is activated? Is that the case or is there some similar version of that scheme?
