Adding AC to 2004 Baja Outlaw
 

I am thinking about installing AC on my 2004 Baja Outlaw has any one installed an AC unit on a performance style boat? I would love for some advice. It would be really nice for sleeping on the boat.

I installed one on my 1991 Baja 260 and also my 2003 302 had one factory installed. They were great. On both boats, had a 5000 btu Mermaid with reverse heat, although I never the heat side. Had shore power and factory breaker panels on both. Used a Honda 2000i gen on swim platform or just in front of the cockpit for power when not at docks.

I don't have true shore power but I have a plug on the back that runs to a 3 bank onboard ProNautics battery charger and a Honda EU1000i will run it so worst case if I had to run that the next day for a few hrs. to charge the batteries that would work. I have 4 AGM series31 batteries. 2 are for the 2 engines and the other 2 are for accessories/stereo. I should be able to run this all night without a problem.

If your interested I have a air conditioning system that came out of a 38 special I'm parting out.
I've never tested it but would assume it works.
Firehill might know as it was a guy in their group whose boat I bought after he removed power and drives.
If your interested let me know, I'm fixing to get the interior of the salon out next.

Where do you plan on mounting it?? Seems like it would take up a lot of storage space. With there not being much to begin with!!

These units mount under the berth in the foksal.
The return air is centered towards it under the setee.
You'd be shocked how little real estate they occupy in the storage locker beneath.the bunk.
The duct work fishes under the setee and discharges in the salon vents and the forward stateroom or V-berth.
In a 29ol there may not be room to place a vent there in the berth.
IMO, nothing beats ac on board even if you live up north and good units reverse the gas and make heat too.
Keep your boat and purchase mine LMAO!!!

Eddie from lake ozark marine installed one on a hustler I believe few years back, it was on JMS's boat I believe on MWBP forum

Cant remember his OSO handle - he was a boat painter from TX- Austin maybe? somewhere but he had a 29 Outlaw all white. Install AC in it. If I remember correct it took up one of the closets. Had the thing all plumbed in and put a Honda Gen back on port side between stringer and hull. Worked great and he said the 1 or 2 gal tank would run damn near 8 hours I think. Was a Very nice set up.
