Short-Bus ?? how about you come share your wealth of knowledge on the other site, ( lurker ) so the other Baja guys can learn how to make their boats faster.

JT, duck hunting at 92 is not allowed, ................ anyway, I sold my slow 33 and now have a slower tub, its not always how fast you get there its how good you look doing it :grinser010:

Hate to say it but this kind of thread is why I stopped posting on the forums especially OSO.

Enjoy the winter guys. Seems like cabin fever has already set in.

Child's play compared to the Yamaha R-1 forum!

Not sure how fast it was, but should be the fastest baja in regarding how much HP. (HP / speed)

SB - We don't use the term Lurker anymore. It is politically incorrect.

They prefer the term "Silent Cheerleader" now a days.... :daz:

Carry on....

I remember reading the Baja Cat was a big sloppy slow pig as well.

Step down to a 29' and 90's is no problem.

ANYWAY, after all that........geez......I guess what I am asking is if I stayed brand loyal, sold my 280, kept my power, what slightly newer model is best bang for the buck? Twin engine app, and again 1150hp to work with. What boat will run closest to mid 80's?

From the 'Craigslist gold' thread, post 1072.....

I think this one fits the bill of "fast Baja"

I don't know about "no problem." He had 650hp+ a side with boxes and -2 Imco lowers. It ran low to mid 90's.

I would say the 33OL would be your best "all around" choice. Lots of room, better rough water handling than a 29 or 30, and prolly close to being as fast as a 29 with equal power.

2003 33 Outlaw, 500 EFI's, Imco boxes, XZ drives, stock 30" Bravo I's, 380 K-planes, 80 MPH. Upgraded 500 EFI's to 600 HP 522's courtesy of the late Brad Smith, Bblades worked 30" Bravo I's, 82 - 83 MPH.

Yeah, I have a very similar set up and a couple more horsepower (low 600's) and I am at 83-84 unless its full moon and zero humidity then its 85. :)

You need a full crew just to monitor all the gauges on that thing lol.

I know speed vs. power they aren't close but how does the 33 OL compare to a 32 Fountain? Is it a way bigger boat?

F-2 Speedy 11-24-2015 05:59 PM

The OL is probably 3 ft longer and is much bigger than the fountain, the fountain will be faster with same power but a lot smaller cockpit and lounge, set em side by side and you will see

Like 33olsst said, it about 3ft or so. I have a friend with a 35 Fountain and our boats are the same length end to end. (end of platform to point of bow.) My OL is about 5mph slower on top (70 vs 65) with 454 mag vs 496 mags, but we both cruise at 50 or so.

This is us tied up together (35 fountain vs 33 Outlaw) We are not tied up perfectly, beak is forward of my stern, but you can see the overal length for comparison.
