also on another note, Eddie said he was surprised it would run the 60MPH as it is only a 385hp motor

I think most got at least 62-63 out of that boat new/fresh power/385 HP spinning a stock M+23. The 23 stock sucks, blows out bad but you can get there from here.
Maybe "junk" is a strong word, it needs some tuning. If you have a stock 23p Mirage Plus prop you can get there for around $400. If you're interested send me a PM. |

Had a 95 272 with 454 base engine and mild upgrades a few boats ago. Ended up with a Mirage + 23, 60-62 MPH. Needed to tweak the prop, if I knew what I do now I left some MPH on the table. Brett at BBlades would be my choice for the prop mod..

My 272 Islander loves the Rev4. I take it easy on the sticks but it still just pops right out of the hole. I'm running a 502 carbed motor with a 1.65:1 drive 23p Rev4. I tried a 25p labbed M+ But still like the Rev4 better.

I am always amazed by folks that want the "holeshot" of a Mastercraft as well as the top speed of an A-class race boat. In the end, your prop will either give you the holeshot and jump on plane like a ski boat, OR, give you the absolute best possible top speed at a given weight. It's up to you as to which end of the spectrum you want to lean towards.
I myself don't pull anyone on a ski, don't get into drag races and don't mind if it takes a few seconds getting on plane. In fact, I usually ease up on plane just to alleviate undo stress on the drive. Running WFO in big water is another story. THAT's where it gets fun! |
Stupid question for the OP. Do you have all the vent plugs out of the mirage +? It should act pretty close to a standard 21 when coming out of the hole if so.
