Sounds like some good follow up their from Houston Prop, keep up the good work guys, and Mark let us know how the props work!

I looked at one of the props before it was reworked. As bad as it looked before being reworked, I am currios as to how much better they will run now.

TURBOJACK

TURBOJACK, Thank's for stopping in the shop the other day, Yes the props as you saw were out of balance bad and the trailing edges and tip's were off. doc needed about 400 more rpm,I thinned them out repitched and balanced and polished ,I also trimmed the trailing edge in the pitch line of the cup for more rpm but added some on the tips .I hope we hit it right on the money as the cupping is very critical as not enough or just a little too much will make the world of difference. But with a little more lift we are hoping the rpm and speed will increase. let us know when the chance arrives.

What do you mean by "as bad as it looked"?

Hey Darin, do you have a machine called a "prop scan" I think it is a digital dial indicator, to measure the blades? or how do you do this? thanks for the info

Should have said this instead of

as bad as it looked

prop scan

prop scan is availabe for my use when needed, the machine run's 60,000.00 and i do not own one , the scanning machine really comes in to play when working on large inboard propellers. I use the traditional pitch block ,pitch and rake indicators on most all of the work.

Ouch! 60000.00 man thats a lot of cash, I could buy a cool boat for that, I have always heard pro's and con's on that tool, sounds like it would be hard to get your money out of it!
