The back cleats on the 29 are on the transom so they don't really work well in this manor.

If your willing to drill a hole I would install one of these on each side

We mounted some pop up cleats and have enjoyed them. They work great for fender mounts. If you don't want to drill holes, then get a couple of the Seasucker mounts.

I'm big on cleats so we also added another pair of midship cleats. The aft cleat was just never in the right place and if you wanted another spring line the cleat gets crowded with more than one line on it.

Do you have to worry about the loop popping off the mushroom cleat if the boat starts moving up and down on the dock causing the fender to move up and down? I would hare for the fender to come detached from the boat eliminating any protection.

I had mushrooms on my Pantera. I made the loop big enough that I would wrap it around the cleat once. Never had a fender come loose.

Where do you tie the lines?

I use the loop end through the same cleat and the fender over that.

Do you mean that you made the loop just big enough to stretch over the mushroom top and that would be good enough?

Does anyone have a picture of one of these in use with the rope attached? I'm just worried about the rope slipping off when the boat moves up and down against the dock.

No, use like a 6" loop and loop it over and wrap it around the mushroom cleat. It won't come off.

I'm sorry. I feel really stupid here. I'm just not understanding how a 6 inch loop will stay secure? Just with the weight of the fender and gravity? Seems like it could easily pop off the mushroom top. I guess I'd have to see it in action. I know when I used a boat cleat, their is no way that is going to come off. I know I could use the pin kind, but I'm not sure I like the big weight of the pin attached to my fenders when retrieving and returning the fenders to storage.
