Default Looking for prop advice

I recently purchased a 98 33 Outlaw powered by HP500 's. Has bravo One Drives with IMCO extension boxes and Sport Master 2" shorty drives. I purchased the boat with 32P Hydromotive 5 blade props. I'd like to know if these props are going to give me the best overall in RPM, Top End and out of the hole? Or should I drop to a 4 Blade and change the pitch?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I can't believe that you could come close to spinning 32" 5 blades to 5000+rpms with stock HP500's.

Not sure what to tell you Griff that's what was on the boat when I purchased it. I bought it in Nov so I haven't had the chance to run it yet. Which is the reason for this post. To see what ppl have tried and to see what works and what doesnt.

Think I would first try it as is. If indeed you can turn those in the 4800-5200 rpm range of a HP500 you may have more than HP500s. Anyway at that point you will have a better idea as how to go. That style of prop typically is not the best choice for an Outlaw. Going back to a four blade Bravo 1 will more then likely result in more top speed and rpm with a possible loss in midrange cruise. All in all for absolute best top speed a three blade Mirage Plus might be your best bet but you will give up several mph at cruise rpm vs a four blade as well as have them blow out coming on plane. A lot of how much that would happen depends on what year your boat is and how the X dimension was set from the factory.

Thank you for the info GETTINBYE. So I went down to my shop and pulled the props. Kind of glad I did because the previous owner was totally wrong. They are Hydromotive P-5X 29 pitch props. Now with knowing that does that change anything to what you said?

I'm sure JayTee will weigh in when he sees this. He has this 33 OL with turned up 575's. Your 29's PX-5's might be pretty close for your HP.

Interesting to say the least. In 98 Baja still set up with a pretty deep X dimension, at least on the 36 Outlaw's however your shorties solve that. I would still run as is as a baseline test. From what I just read about their design they might be a good pick. Being 29s and 5 blade I question if a stock hp500 will be able to turn them into the recommended rpm range of 4800-5200. Let us know how it turns out.

I ran 25p mirage plus on my 33 OL with 502 mag's...............then put the 540's in it and ran 28p B1 four blades, Id try what you have but you need to turn them at least 5100-5200

Edit: you will find that hull likes a bunch of trim, but be careful.

Are the boxes neutral ?? fairly deep X on a 98 model, the -2 lowers will help out up on the top end, sounds nice, post a pic.
