A guy named Bruce Carter that worked at Baja claimed on Bajas running over 60 MPH there is another 2 to 3 mph by squaring the transom / running surface intersection. I know on my 210 Sport there is a generous radius, which makes it easier to pull from the mold. Bruce also said on faster boats there is likely to be even more of a gain. I have an interest in this as well because my speeds are in the high 90's and the magic triple digits are real close. Does anyone know who does this type of work? I don't want a full blueprint, only to square up the radius. Oh ya, I want it to look like it came from the factory that way, if that is possible. Any shops doing this in the SW Michigan or Northern Indiana?

Blueprinting the hull usually will yield an increase in speed, but may lend itself to adverse handling.

Squaring off the all the radii and transom is the best way to go. However, they're there for a reason. Composite materials generally don't like to make tight corners....Stress concentrations will occurr which may lead to cracking. Also, keep in mind what it is that is actually being removed...Glass or gelcoat?

FYI, Most Bajas have a little hook near the transom. Removing this, which is often part of blue-printing, will kill your handling.

On Bajas the hook Daze is speaking of is way out of the water at WOT. Removing it will make the boat porpoise at crusing and lower speeds. Nothing to be gained at top end because it is not in the water. Maybe it would be easier to just step up to a 540 to get to 100.

Good Idea.

My current boat has big hook at the ass end and so did my 24 OL. No way I would mess with mine. Guys who are a lot smarter than I am felt the hook was necessary so it stays. Perhaps it's the reason why I have never had deploy the K-Planes.

Hey Chris, lets find out by removing the hook on your boat!! I have some bondo if you need to restore it.

I agree with Fever Mike. IMHO unless you've got some major hooks from sitting on a trailer, let it be. The money can be spent better elsewhere.
